Most cheap ice cream sandwiches have Guar Gum which is basically tree sap. They use it to prevent melting. It's an all natural ingredient. Some really poor cheese slices sold in dollar stores contain Guar Gum as well and will not melt.

There are already a bunch of videos on KZfaq about ice cream companies changing the recipe to something cheaper that don't melt. Apparently, at least in the US, such products are not allowed to be sold as "ice cream" so they are usually called "frozen dessert" or similar.

There seem to be two different types of sharticle. In some, the events described in the sharticle are ridiculous, such as the 'people steal GPS trackers' or the 'guy puts Volvic in his iron ones'. In others, the event is completely normal and not worth noting, and the ridiculousness comes from the fact that someone actually wrote an article about it, such as the 'lorry makes turn' or 'celebrity doesn't step in puddle' ones

The ice cream sandwich thing was a popular story here a few years ago. Turns out cheap ice cream sandwiches use marshmallow to reduce the cost, so they won't fully melt. Still taste good though. People were panicking thinking they were feeding their children poison, it was hysteria.

about Sharticle 3 I was watching a video one time where a guy was reviewing cheap ice creams mainly from walmart here in the US an testing them to see if they would melt if left out on the counter or in the sun for several days, they pretty much looked the same after he checked on them again an the ice cream sandwich's looked about the same as the ones in that photo.

That's not flavoured water, that's a roughly 5% sugary drink (like soda without colouring and carbonation). Makes me wonder how well it would work with actual scented water.

Thing is that your iron is basically a boiler so anything, absolutely anything other than pure H2O will be left behind to cake the lining of the element inside the face of your iron once the water has vaporised. Even tap water eventually fills your iron with limescale, chlorine crystals and all sorts of other impurities so it's a very bad idea to put anything in your iron that isn't stated to be used as such. The numpty in the article wants to go down the American route of manufacturers being forced to put disclaimers on everything in order to ward off litigation from people who have no common sense but instead of expecting a warning on a flavoured water bottle telling him what drinks are designed for he perhaps should have read the part in his iron's manual telling him not to put random things inside it willy nilly!

Many years ago, saw a car drive through a very large dog poo that had been freshly laid by a Great Dane and send a wall of poo over an unfortunate man walking past who proceeded to vomit all over the place, the other witnesses and myself found this hilarious. Yes I am sick in the head.

The "Ice cream" thing was a big topic in the USa year or two ago. A guy left his Walmart brand "ice cream" sandwich out on the porch in direct sunlight in the middle of summer and forgot about it, and he came back like 4 hours later to find it just barely starting to melt a little. So it was all over the news and people were making KZfaq videos testing it, trying to figure out what the hell Walmart was selling people because ice cream is supposed to melt.

The GPS story reminds me of the Darwin Awards story (ohh ancient stuff) about a guy who tried to hold up a gunstore in the US with a knife, while a uniformed police officer was present and having some coffee. Gunstore employees tend to be armed while at work.

All ice cream has air in it, some ice cream has more air in it than other types of ice cream. Therefore when some types of ice cream melt they bubble out and do not appear to have melted. I'm guessing that's what happened here.

Some ice-cream are not milk based at all, they use (much cheaper) substitutes that don't actually melt. There's this video of this guy that bought like 5 brands of icecream and he left them off the fridge for a few days and only two of them had melted.

Most ice cream uses stabilisers (Vegetable gums, generally) that help provide a smooth/fluffy texture. Versions with more stabilisers will retain a smidge more volume at melting temperatures.

In the US, cheap Ice Cream sandwiches aren't real ice cream (some sort of frozen marshmallow with the same taste). Seem Ashens should come to the US and try what passes as food. That Kraft Mac & Cheese he tried last week was actually on the higher end.

i don't think MOST people need a "WARNING!!! DO NOT USE THIS TO IRON YOUR SHIRT! DO NOT EXPOSE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES!" just... DON'T! don't use anything on your iron, that doesn't EXPLICITLY state that it's used or CAN be used to iron your shirt! if you want your shirt to smell nice, (or ANY clothing/garment) spray it with perfume AFTER exposing it to high temperatures! like stuart says "don't really think i'm teaching anybody anything new here." and if that is ACTUALLY an ice cream sandwich, then it's not really a sharticle, but more of an ACTUAL disturbing thing! if an ICE CREAM doesn't MELT, and NOTHING eats it, not even INSECTS, there is something very, very, VERY wrong!
