It looks like school pizza from a far shot. Go the Alfredo’s and order a Large tray of pepperoni and mushrooms and tell me it sucks. I was born and raised in Nj/nyc, moved to Scranton 20 years ago, hated Old Forge pizza for years but I threw in the towel. It really is good but it’s different. I brought my elderly mother from Newark to Alfredo’s and she loved it

In NEPA pizza culture is a big part of the area. The Old Forge pizza places are all family run and have been around for a long time. Dave had an article in the local paper here when he came.

I never ate here, but I spent a lot of good times in Scranton as a kid. I remember the Welcome to Scranton sign, just above the old quarry. I would LOVE one day to visit Alfredo's Pizza. I haven't been out that way in decades.

Man, I grew up on that pizza. I definitely agree, Old Forge style pizza is pretty one of a kind, Its unique enough that i don't even compare it to regular pizza anymore. It gets an 8 for me purely on nostalgia.

I enjoy Alfredo's. I had it for dinner just 3 days ago, but this is not a 7.4. Realistically I would say maybe a 6.5 or a 6.6. It's good and gooey/cheesy, but the sauce is nothing to go crazy over. It tastes identical to those canned Don Pepino's yellow cans from NJ.

Dave really likes the crispy crust with smaller amounts of cheese and marinara, but I grew up in the midwest, and it was square slices like that with a ton of cheese. So....I think it's hard for him at times deal with the regional differences, but I respect his fairness as long as he keeps the pizza categorized.

A pizza can be both heavy and light at the same time. This is accomplished by being physically heavy primarily due to its crust while being light in part to being skimpy on the toppings - in this case airy cheese. Mr. Pizza Man himself knows his shit

Just look at the crust: it's like twice as thick as a standard NY slice. So of course it can be as heavy in terms of weight but still light and fluffy in terms of texture and density. Come on bro!
