This guys probably my favorite pizza guy so far. So genuine and humble. Dude doesn't even know that an 8.2 means people are now planning trips from 100s of miles away to go order a pie. He's just doing what he does and I love it.

@@johnleonard8538 You're the guy throughout the review that Dave said personified pizza? And the owner let you go? Makes no sense! You were a huge factor in getting that 8.2, the best score in this region of Connecticut. Even if Dave would have loved the pizza anyway, Dave liking you almost certainly bumped it up to 8.2, which gave you the best score (by .1) over all the famous pizzerias in the region. That's worth 10's of thousands of dollars per year in attracting business, possibly $100,000+! Frankly, that would be enough to make me go to the other places as a customer. Without you, this is 8.1, the same as all the other places. EVERYBODY KNOWS THE RULES.

Dave thinks telling someone that they look like pizza is a compliment, I think he looks like Will Sasso from Mad TV which is less offensive. He seems like a good hardworking man, I always like to see a high score for this type of guy and he handled the "compliment" real well. Remember when he told a fan that he looked like a meatball? Dave has no filter but that's one of the reasons that he's popular.

Christos In Wallingford CT Is the closest to new haven pizza one of the sleeper pizza restaurants in CT, check their pizza pics on their website even, they're definitely top 5 in CT next to sallys pepe and little rendezvous

Cause of all the people coming in asking about me got in his head!! If you really think about it its the dumbest move in a business sense ever!!!

He even took the pizza i first made for him out of the oven way early and it was very light so when dave came he told me i had to make another one for him!! It all on camera. God knows only the owner and me know that but if it ever came down to it the proof is all in the surveillance system!! The owner could never lie about anything that day!!!

I just learned that the owner let go the guy who made the pizza, and was liked enough by Dave to get an *8.2* (" *I LOVE THE GUY IN THERE WHO MADE THE PIZZA * ") WHAT THE HECK IS THAT ABOUT??????!!! That guy by impressing Dave this way will bring in $100,000+ of additional business per year (yes, best score in the region!!). Insane. Without this gut, NO WAY that score is an 8.2, and it's now just like all the other really good places in the region. Lack of appreciation of great employees is intolerable to me, makes ALL the difference when I decide where to go, especially with so many other great local options.

Has it ever crossed Portnoy's mind that telling someone they look like pizza could potentially be perceived as insulting? I genuinely think not, which is one of the reasons I earnestly enjoy Portnoy. He has his jagged edges but there's a genuine wholesomeness and down to earth quality about him that is rare to find.

Allright, that looked like an 8 all day long, very strong looking pie! I know what that guy was saying, it's not "deep Wooster St." style with heavy char. It's more "approachable" for regular civilians who are pizza fanatics. Some people in CT don't love the "Wooster St." style.

I admit. My comment is completely biased. I grew up in Guilford. So proud. My childhood home is 5 minutes up the road from Carpanzano's. Dave is doing such a good thing for us... Connecticut pizza. We're the best... Worldwide. He did Capone's in Branford too. Hopefully he did Marco's and Pacileo's in Branford too. Hat's off to Dave. Such a good Dude. I love it.
