Several years ago, I was flipping through channels (when prices were reasonable, and there was still stuff worth watching on tv more often) and came across a documentary on Patrick Stewart . He had something similar (if not the same) . So the kid's in good company. Thanks for sharing this trip with history Dave. Always fun to watch. Utica, NY has some of the best Italian American food I've ever had in my life. Chicken Riggies and Utica Greens are a few must try dishes! There are quite a few good places to eat in and around Utica and also they have a few sports teams. The Utica Comets are the New Jersey Devils farm team and Utica City FC is a professional arena soccer team. There's a lot of history in that area, it's called the Mohawk Valley. The Erie Canal goes through there. It's definitely worth a trip out if you're a foodie, if you like history, if you like sports, and also if you enjoy the outdoors.

I'm a local guy. This style isn't my favorite, but I do love their sausage pizza. It's one whole thin layer of sausage underneath the sauce.

What an epic night…just finished witnessing Donaldson belt a grand salami over my head at the Yankee game, then I come home to an all-time pizza review of Sku-knee-knees, followed by an all-time review of 9.8 hairline. It doesn’t get better than that folks.

The crisp sound with ever bite sounds so good. I never had a pizza like that but man, now I do.

Laughed out loud to the hairline review bit. As far as the pizza goes. It has layers of goodness. You heard the crisp. Yet it is light and doughy above that. Then a layer of quality mozzarella that you definitely taste. A basic sauce that doesn’t overpower, topped with quality Pecorino Romano cheese. And you taste all of it, and they all work well together. If you like sausage pizza, I’d recommend that as well.👌

I was bore and raised in Utica NY. I moved to greener pastures in 1983 but at 67 years old I find myself reminiscing alot . Utica was a great place to be a kid back in the 60's and 70's . A ski hill , ice rink, zoo, Robert Trent Jones golf course , great city pool , Little League baseball, Pop Warner football and lit basketball and tennis courts , beautiful parks , Nail Creek Ravine as kids where we play there all summer long and good friends which I still have a few there that I'm very close to . I've been blessed to have been able to have traveled the world but I find myself always thinking about home and what always comes to mind is O'Scugnizzos Pizza. I live in Florida now but RIGHT NOW I WOULD KILL FOR A LARGE SAUSAGE , PEPPERONI AND MUSHROOM PIZZA FROM O'SCOGNIZZO'S !! THE BEST PIZZA I'VE EVER HAD !! BAR NONE !!

Visited Utica many times. Recently I visited this place. It's in an "interesting part of town". Additionally, I am a suckered for history. I met with the owner's daughter and she gave me the story onther place. I agree with you Dave, it's priceless. As far as the pie, think your score is generous Imho. Keep in mind I'm not from the NY area. I, too, am fair. I get that people people like what they grew up on. The preparation and ingredients are far from what I am used to. The pizza is great for locals but not my cup of tea. As far as history and ambiance of this place was top shelf, no doubt.

I love O’Scugnizzo’s pizza. My family has been eating pizza from their my entire life and I’m now 36. Definitely one of my favorite pizza’s. My Top 3, O’Scugnizzo’s, Sicilian Delight and Parkway Pizza. 👍 Honorable mention Charlie’s Pizza.

I worked at NiMo in Syracuse, one of my coworkers lived in Utica and would bring this pizza in every now and then. I loved it, being raised and living in Syracuse… loving my thin crust, Pavones, Mario’s.. but being born in Chicago,, that deep dish upside down is in my blood.. so this place is great

Hitting this place on Sunday. Driving through on my way home from a wedding and I'll be passing Utica.

Grew up eating o’scugnizzos and Utica tomato pie. I remember we’d always have to tell non-natives how to say the name cause no shot you got it right without someone telling you. Miss upstate NY
