I've been working on a piece for my composition teacher, and I came up with what I *thought* was a unique scale to use for my melody. Turns out, it's exactly this, I just had no idea what it was called! Thank you for the videos, I'm going to be bingeing these to procrastinate on finishing the piece!

I really like the 2 (min+maj) arpeggios a tritone apart perspective. Feels like a nice place to start for exploring momentary ideas! Thank you Milton :)

Yes it sounds lovely. Piazzolla's Tango Suite Mat I Bars 64-77 are a really direct example of this. Fuelled by your question I just discovered that e.g. C6 and F#6 (or C7 and F#m6) complete all the notes of the octatonic...

Wonderfull video... but yet again, music samples (5.05) are not audible. Was also the case in your Bartók Pich Axis video... Copyright issues??

Sorry to miss this question. I believe the first reference is Wilson, Paul (1992). The Music of Béla Bartók. ISBN 0-300-05111-5 - which is a little pricey (even 2nd hand) and hard to find - however alpha, beta, gamma concepts are repeated in other books. Will have a hunt...
