The first concerto by Bartók is one of his most important pieces. From beginning to end, the music gradually changes from heavy and gloomy emotions to a positive vitality for life.

A favorite piece since I first heard in 1965. The quality of this recording and video are superlative, and the orchestra and conductor, a pleasure.

A marvelous composition. Absolutely beautiful. Person told me you have to be deep into classical music to appreciate it. called it "acquired taste". I don't care - I love it.

Although I love classical music and always try to get out of my comfort zone in terms of composers and pieces, I wouldn't know whether to say that I am deeply into classical music. But with this in particular, hearing part of the 5th movement got me. Love at first listen. And I ended up liking it much more when I heard it in its entirety! it's marvelous really

Érdekes interpretáció, de élvezettel hallgattam. Nagyon jó, néha meglepő - de nem rossz - lassúsággal.

This was brilliant; exceptional performance, excellent sound quality and HQ video. Bartók is one of my top favorite composers of all time, this was a true pleasure to watch.

This occasion likely marks my inaugural auditory experience of Bartók's compositions under the baton of Haitink. Anticipating a rendition suffused with a certain fluidity, the actual performance emerged with an unexpected acuity, piercing through the anticipatory veil with incisive clarity.

I've never nodded off during a performance of Concerto for Orchestra...until now. I love Haitink, but this rendition had no energy, and many of the musicians played as though they were bored--even though this piece is far from boring. Much too slow!

I agree with you, very slow

Some sections were slower than others, but there was plenty of atmosphere and character to the playing. Haitink managed to get that wonderful, dark sound from whatever orchestra he conducted.

This is one of the most profound pieces of music ever composed…And if you disagree you're (objectively) deficient in your ability to appreciate what you've just listened to…That is, if you actually bothered to listen all the way through?…Or even for 10 seconds?! So, did you?

I really suggest listening to Zoltan Kocsis's recording with the hungarian philharmonic orchestra! You can feel the hungarian blood in the playing, which makes it better with this Bartok in my opinion!:)
