Amazing how a 70 year old design can look contemporary with a modern livery and fittings.

Would anyone at English Electric have taken a bet, in, lets say 1964, that any of their type ones would still be in service in 60 years time.

I wonder if theses were the two that were in gbrf liverys .

They were and owned by HNRC. Not sure if that is still the case though

Not impressed one bit. They would look a lot nicer and better in Rail Freight two-tone grey, with a blue Stripe. You can still decal them for Balfour Beatty.

How come you didn’t buy them then?

Just personal preferences. I do not like White Livery on a Loco. The Blue is wishy-washy (thinly applied, similar to Colas Livery) and the whole Livery scheme has been blandly applied to the Loco contours, without much imagination or initiative - IMO. @@userscott

@@userscott Hi, please do not take my comments personally, they are just my opinions. I take an interest in USA Trains too and I do not like the White Livery of the former SOO Railroad - not one little bit. Being a Railfan from 1968, I grew-up with BR Corporate Blue and Yellow, witnessing the change from 60s Green. For these two Cl.20s, I like the dark Grey for the Roof and the Red Stripe, but I feel that the Blue & White should be 50/50 of the Side Panel Height. I was interested in mention of the Design. I have worked for many Graphic Designers and Architects, re-creating their visual Designs into Metal and Plastic objects - mostly Signage.
