Spinoza’s brilliant metaphysical system was derived neither from reality nor experience. Starting from basic axioms (assumptions), by means of a series of geometric proofs he built a universe which was also God - one and the same thing, the classic example of pantheism. While his system may seem an oddity today, Spinoza’s conclusions are deeply in accord with much of modern thought, from science (the holistic ethics of today’s ecologists) to politics (the idea that the sate exists to protect the individual). The compelling beauty of both Spinoza’s system and conclusions are unequalled in the history of philosophy.
Here is a concise, expert account of Spinoza’s life and philosophical ideas that is entertainingly written and easy to understand. Also included are selections from Spinoza’s work, suggested further reading and chronologies that place Spinoza in the context of the broader scheme of philosophy.

In my opinion: So hard to not dichonomize rational view, when the universe isn't like that. To if & then your idealistic construction of view, seem to seek balance of thought. The weighing of ideas with polarity. How then can we figure out actual reality? It's a falacy of our subjective truth. But it's it really the truth? I won't think so. The synthesis of thought often is like a sudden explosive fire work that then is caught to rational view. The very object is less than, but becomes the thing to generalize to another though difference we manufacture for rational purpose, form what was removed, to suit the purpose of limited intention to grasp on to. Under the circumstances, thought becomes totally unaware of its awareness & selection. It's the thing that educated people talk about that they know & everything they don't know within the same. How intelligently dumb is that? In a bag of marbles, some will be lost. So to diconomize in rational processes we shouldn't lose all of our marbles about the bag containing the very idea.
