Real nice video! My Olerud collection is currently in the typical Ultrpro 9 sleeve pages. My base and parrallel cards are in a 6 inch thick binder with my memorabilia cards in a separate binder. I 100% agree with you that it's a pain to re-organize as you get new cards. I like your storage technique. But, I also like being able to flip through the binder to see the parallels side by side. You're correct, there's no one "right" way. Just as long as you enjoy your collection.

I had watched this video years ago back when my cards had been in actual shoeboxes for some 30 years and was blown away by it. But wasnt until the covid era that I finally had time to properly organize. I like that the collection focuses more on the cards than on value. I know both matter but still. Hopefully you are still picking up a few Oleruds.

I'm a mets fan and enjoyed having good ole john olerud on my team years ago. He was a good hitter and a decent defender. Definitely a solid player but I'm shocked to see someone have such a dedicated collector for that type of a player. You must really like him to invest in this type of collector. Even the rarest of his cards can't be worth that much. Anyway, interesting video. Thanks for posting

I don't use magnetics mainly because they cost a lot more per card than toploaders. Also cards can still jiggle around in a magnetic, and you can't use a penny sleeve.

So far even my thickest cards fit OK in the penny sleeves shown in the video. I do have be carefull putting them in though. I don't use magnetics at all. Used to use single-screw cases for thick cards but that was before I found the thicker toploaders.

My local card shop carries them, as do most card shops I assume. They're 1600-count "shoeboxes". They generally cost about $2 or $3 apiece. They hold toploaders nicely, but larger boxes I've seen locally (4-row 3200-count boxes) do not.
@Packerscorner
@Packerscorner 11 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. I accidentally bought a pack. The only thing is that they don't fit in normal sized top loaders....so you can't use them with regular sized cards.

I buy them at my local card shop for about $2 each. Most card shops usually carry them. They're sometimes called shoeboxes.

I think most card shops would carry different sized toploaders. If your's doesn't there are tons of other online sources. One place that COMC is affiliated with is BCW Supplies (just Google them).

I am trying to organize some thousands of cards that I haven't paid any attention to since I was collecting them as a kid in the 1970s. After watching your video I went to Amazon and was about to buy toploaders when I read a review about "jagged" or "chipped" top edges that were sharp. Have you ever come across that?
@olerud363
@olerud363 6 жыл бұрын
I've never seen jagged or chipped top edges, but I have gotten toploaders that have slightly uneven top edges. I buy mine from a card shop, where I can see them and make sure they aren't defective. Oh, and I only buy Ultra Pro brand.

I don't mind at all if you link my site in your blog. Thanks! Yes, those are Ultra Pro plastic dividers. I've never bought them but I have 4 or 5 of them that I got when they were included in 100-ct packages of penny sleeves. They only stick up above a toploader by less than 1/4 inch, so there probably isn't room for a decent label.

Solid organization and website you've put together. If you don't mind, I'd like to place a link to your website on my blog. Are some of those dividers Ultra Pro Card Sleeve Dividers? If so, do they have enough space for labels?

@@olerud363 My bad man. Just now seeing this. I had so many KZfaq notifications - I missed it. Hope you see this and can respond today. I have a big problem putting my cards into sleeves without bending one of the edges. I did see a video on here and bought a box cutter and slit one corner and it worked. You just angle the card in to the left and cut the opposite corner (right side) just a little. It's a new clean box cutter. No rust. Just wondering how you do it? Some people use the small scissors on a pocket knife. And last random question: if you get a damaged card.. can you complain? Or are you just screwed? It was one of the Bowman Autographs smh. Thanks!
@olerud363
@olerud363 2 жыл бұрын
@@nostalgiaman6816 I don't slit the corner of my penny sleeves, though I have seen people do it and it seems like a good idea. I just try to be very careful when sliding the card in. If I get a damaged card from ebay or from a trade, I'll usually contact the other person. But be courteous and honest, and don't immediately accuse them of trying to rip you off or something. With proper communication most issues can be resolved. If not, leave negative feedback with an honest comment.
