I played ball my whole life, I knew all these things and I still apply them in my 38+ mens league. I also consider my pitchers velocity and the batters swing speed to help me shift the half (maybe whole) step I've lost.

As a kid while playing 2nd, I used to do the shifting automatically without being taught. Apparently I had more intuition than my couches. Definitely when they tell you to stay in the one spot (or 2 if they were decent).

Great video. Just curios, I've heard of and seen the infield positioning "In at the corners" but you didn't address that in this video. Is that something you left out intentionally, overlook it or is that just no longer a thing even at the major league level? As for the lefty/righty shifts, I've seen some absolute bangers of shifts vs pure dead pull hitters. Things like the 3rd baseman lining up almost at 2nd base, the shortstop behind 2nd base and the 2nd basement almost close over to 1st base and the 1st baseman right on the line, with the outfield similarly shifted - aaannnd the pull hitter will still pull it right into the wall of defense! You'd think even the most dedicated pull hitter might at least think to try and slap one opposite way if there's no defense there!

The corners come in a lot, to the point where it’s not so much a type of defense as just a general movement, like the tides coming in and going out. Come in when bunt threat is higher or when the double play is in order. But this video wasn’t really about general little movement
