I just have a feeling that Texas would be harder for the Phillies to beat though I had the feeling the Diamondback would cause the Phillies a lot of issues and so far I’ve been wrong. Philly is a lot different now than it use to be. It’s still loud as all hell and the fans talk a ton of shit but Philly fans were at there worst when the Veterans Stadium was where the games were held. I remember as a kid seeing people get into fist fights and during a Eagles/ Cowboys game a cowboys fan started shit with an Eagles fans they got into a fight and then the Eagles fans threw the Cowboys fan off the 700 level of the Vet. It was a huge drop too then there was the booing and throwing batteries and snowballs at Santa Claus and the fans Cheering when Michael Irving got a career ending injure playing the Eagles being a Cowboys player. There was a lot of crazy stuff between Phillies and Mets fans also and Braves fans. Since the new stadiums have been built and The Vet was brought down the fans have calmed down a lot or maybe it’s cause a lot of the original Philly people moved away cause of crime or work or whatever.

Baseball needs more drama and antics. Harper was always tame compared to what is needed to make the game interesting today. Trevor Bauer was more in line with what is gonna be good for the game. Josh Donaldson also. The culture is too stiff. There's no attention paid to entertainment factors. There's all this wasted space between pitches. Stuff like that would make more interested in games that don't involve my own team.

The nl east has some crazy fans, the braves fans throw shit on the field and tommy-chop in unison when theyre good, the mets fans parachute onto the field naked when theyre good, the marlins might not have a lot of fans but the team was sued by their biggest fan because he wanted to be there every game and the price went way up. In some ways its great for baseball, in some ways its terrible for baseball, but id rather be thunderously booed by an opposing crowd than slightly clapped for.

Phillies hated Harper partially because of the media narrative and partially because we were getting beat by him. Then we got to learn more of Bryce because we saw him regularly and learned what kind of person he is. Also he came back from Tommy John so quick, playing first, and just embracing the city as much as they have embraced him. People fall for the narrative that the media gives us and sometimes we have to ignore the noise.

I don’t know why a GM would care about the length of the deal when you’re expecting 6-9 years of elite level play while widening your championship window exponentially. That’s $ 2 mil less than Donaldson last contract and equal to Dansby Swanson.

@@chrismarston4266 I never understand what "he has matured" means with him. He's pretty much the same guy he was in 2012. I mean, he's not a teenager and has no doubt matured in his day to day life, but on the field he's pretty much exactly who he was then, just more consistent in his performance.

@@jawbone78 I think a big part of it is he’s not as much of a hot head anymore, he’s learned to control it and let his play speak for him. He still has his outbursts at times but you can’t blame him for some of them. I think a big part of his maturity came from the move to Philly. Philly fans have always had the mindset of “you don’t like us, we don’t care” and I think that’s rubbed off on him, he knows people still despise him, but he’s fine with it now. Another part might be that he no longer has as much to prove. Coming into the league at 19 he had to prove himself worthy of all the hype, there was immense pressure on him to perform. Now, he can just play because he’s already won 2 MVP’s and just took his team to back to back postseasons.
