Legitimately the only Baseball game I can recommend to people who aren't fans of the sport. It's so much fun.

I remember on Twitter you were disappointed by the low viewership of this video so I wanted to comment when I finally got the time to watch the video. I was a Baseball kid growing up and have been curious to hear someone's opinion on this game so I am glad you made the video, the baseball kids are pleased.

For a 90's game this is ridiculously great looking graphically, I kind of ignores the neo geo and called it hype when I was a kid but looking back these games really were a higher level of graphics.

Love Baseball Stars 2 Alec. SNK developed a real gem of a title and showed the power of the Neo-Geo. I must've played hours on a MVS unit inserting tokens to no end in sight when it debuted. Dang, I wish I played this in the arcades back in the day. Every NeoGeo cabinet just had the best games but when you have only 50c, it was difficult to pick them all.

As someone who is very uninterested in sports the passion and the numerous movie references helped keep my interest, very good use and placement of them here. I will say though- even if I'm not a sportsfan, I think I'd rather play a game like this than any realistic EA sports title, if only because the colorful world drawn up here truly has charm to spare.

wow didnt know the CD version is so good, i had the JPN AES version of this game. we played this all the time at the summer camp i worked at. really great memories.

Heck yeah! Baseball Stars 2 absolutely ruled in the arcades back in the day. The Neo-Geo surprisingly had a lot of great arcade style sports games on it.

As a sport, Baseball doesn't work as well as an arcade game than more action based sports like Soccer, Football, Basketball and Hockey. Which is probably why Midway never released a NBA JAM'ed baseball game. But Baseball Stars 2 is definitely the closest it ever got to being one.

This confirms it, My primary memory of this game is playing any other game in the arcade while I heard "BBBB BBB BASEBALL STARS 2!!!!" over and over. Right up there with the low health alert in Magic Sword.

Man, it sure does look bigger, badder, better... It didn't take long for some SNK teams to really dig in to that hardware.

I've adored this game since I first saw it in arcades too. I wish we had Baseball Stars merch of these fictional teams. I'd happily rock a Tokyo Ninjas baseball cap in public.

Its a testament to the game that it still looks pretty dang cool to this day.

I was lucky enough there was a SNK cab in the vestibule of my local Walmart (along with sf2 and nba jam at varying times.) loved playing baseball stars back then.

Probably one of the most stylish games on the Neo Geo, and honestly one of the most stylish games period.

Nothing screams more Neo Geo than this game

I found this game very frustrating on the PSP NeoGeo collection but I eventually figured out that, because pitchers tire quickly, you can pack your hitters close to the edge of the batters' boxes, swing very rarely, and let the CPU pitchers either hit your players and get punched or pitch themselves into exhaustion. I was eventually winning games by 20 runs sometimes because I would pitch to contact and rely on the automatic fielding (which is really good in this game, especially on Normal) to get quick outs. So my first pitcher would last 6 or 8 innings while they would get down to their last pitcher by inning 5 or 6. Then, you can just steal bases over and over because exhausted pitchers don't throw fast enough to catch runners. It's very satisfying to outsmart SNK arcade AI.

Baseball Stars 2 for NES was the best baseball game for that system too. The graphics were truly eyepopping, as you say in your video. The picture in picture portrait along with the huge player sprites was just incomparable at that time.

Man, the year 2020 looks lit. I can't wait.

Best Baseball game ever by far! NGPC version is still best handheld baseball game too. Street Hoop is best basketball game too. Windjammers is another great sports title for the system. I wish SNK made a boxing title for the MVS...

Fun fact, there's a SNES baseball game called Dynamic Stadium that plays near identically to Baseball Stars 2, making me wonder if Sammy was initially pining for a Baseball Stars 2 port with its engine, but they settled with the NPB license in its stead.

Unless the new owners want to make a new Baseball Stars, Super Mega Baseball is the closest we are going to get to a new game. On the bright side, there's more than enough customization options to recreate the original Baseball Stars rosters (granted I would have loved to see more character creation options, height, weight, equipment, etc., but I still enjoy what SMB 4 has so far). Super Mega Baseball 4 also has a Franchise mode, so while not too in-depth, still adds a bunch of replay ability IMO. Much like Mutant Football League, I love the fact there's a similar, if not spiritual sequel, to Baseball Stars, but I still feel like there should be more content for a 2024 arcade sports game. Either than that, if you are a fan of Baseball Stars 2, NES or Neo Geo, get Super Mega Baseball 4.

Best arcade baseball game? I’d have to put it in my top two. World Series Baseball Go to the Dream Park on Naomi is pretty up there as well. I have fond memories of Champion Baseball also when I was pretty young too playing it at the New Jersey Shore.

They really don't make fun sports games like this. This game, Neo Turf Masters, and NFL Blitz are key examples of arcade sports games and some of the best sports gaming you can have.

Neo-Geo must have been amazing to have back in the day I'm a little to young born in 94. I've Been subbed for a while, but I feel like there was way too much cutaway gags in this video, it felt like I was watching a newer family guy episode.

Another case where I wonder what movie the clips are from (aside from the obvious Simpsons ones). This looks fun but I've always had problems with baseball video games because they feel like dumb luck whether you hit the ball or not. Maybe there's something I'm missing or the ones I played were actually just not good. While most Neo-Geo games are on the Switch thanks to Arcade Archives, it sucks that they're locked to being the MVS versions... they really should include an AES option.

Neogeo are the only one who made good sport games.
