Dancing Dragon's debut title, Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga is a turn based strategy RPG made in RPGMaker VX Ace. Don't let that hold you back though, the gameplay showcased within this little indie gem is second to none.

Hahaha. If I recall correctly, they're probably the most affordable of TCGs, the caveat being most cards you get are going to be shiiiiiiit.

Depends if you want a competitive deck or not. For the top meta decks they’re matching or beating Magic the gathering for the standard format. The most affordable now I think is pokemon because they release the meta cards at different rarities with alternate art.

SRPG means strategy Role-Playing game. It's a sub genre of RPGs.

@@iamLI3 I personally consider them interchangeable because of there isn't much of an official distinction between the two. I tried to find one while I was making this video but I found nothing that really made sense that differentiated them enough without completely leaving RPG genre.

I came here to have my opinions validated (well not really, as I have really mixed opinions on the game I'm sure a lot of other people don't share), I stayed for that amazing intro. The story is pretty lackluster. Especially romanceable bond things are like... super meh. I only realized a while later that these bonds actually affect how units interact in the unit builder, costing half what they usually would otherwise. In most cases it's not really worth it tho cuz the named characters will most often than not have the highest leadership around. In my 2 playthroughs of this game, I found out: Paladins and Valkyries are honest to god the best units, while I think rogue-types are pretty much useless, and dragons are (sadly) not that great. And you never have any reason to use a samurai, too. Save for a few exceptions, the game usually prefers you specialize units, so there's not much of a reason to ever have a mediocre spearman/bowan in a squad when you can have either-or. I also never had many firearm units other than a few cannons. Idk I think they come in too late. Also, the DLC units are pretty dope. Especially the necromancers.

Oh yeah bro, there are definitely some meta strategies, that can make squad building redundant, if you let it. I wound up using a really hardcore samurai squad as well as a gun squad even though had I prioritized other things I could have made much better squads. Despite me using a few poorly optimized squad I managed to beat the game without even using all of the squad slots available to me. Min maxing units is probably only necessary in the harder game modes. I completely agree with you on the bonds and story being not great.
