New to using Cubase AI with the Steinberg UR22MKii. Unfortunately the steinberg channel goes way over my head explaining how to just set up one microphone for a simple audio recording. Too much information too fast only causes confusion & frustration. This video you produced explained how to set it up in the software, and the hardware is a piece of cake. Thanks for simplifying the process!

Thank you Jeff for your explanation of input buses that you made very clear. I’ve watched other videos and still been confused about why I needed them. I have a Steinberg ur22c which has two inputs so I only need two mono inputs? I’m a new user of Cubase 10.5 AI but not DAW recording and I find it a steep learning curve. 👍👍👍

hi jef man, cool video, a quick question, i have a 4in 4out usb interface which is great, however i also have a 16 channel mixing desk....which way would you recommend setting up?......guitar/mics straight into the interface to record?....or guitar/mic into mixer then into interface record?...for pre adjustment?.......this has always baffled me. cheers. whichever way should i have the audio out going to mixer too, or straight to my hifi/speakers???....

Hi Jef, thank you very much for your content, you are the best and you explain everything thoroughly. So, I am just learning recording techniques the hard way, that is all alone, as covid isolation keeps us home but also cancelled all our concerts, so I am making music for KZfaq. I am recording piano and voice with 3 mics, a matched pair of M5 Rode condensers for the piano and an NT- 2A for voice. My AI is a Zed-10 (Allen&Heath) connected to my laptop via USB. my question is, what kind of a signal does the AI send to cubase? Does it send the whole mix in 1 track, or do I have to set up 3 tracks , one for each mic? Or do I set up one stereo track for the matched pair and one mono track for the voice? If I must set up one track for the whole mix, should it be a stereo or mono track, since I am using 3 mics? I would be grateful if you could clarify this for me! Best greetings from Athens, Greece!

Hi Jeff, thank you for the wonderful video tutorials that you put out they are very helpful. I was wondering if you could tell me what model and brand of keyboards that you are using on your desktop? I see them in the video but cannot tell what type of keyboard they are. I need to purchase something small, perhaps three octaves, with full-size keys for MIDI input of notes in Dorico. Thank you so much!

Nice video! So, say I wanted to transfer vocals and guitar from a Tascam 4-track tape recorder. Vocals on track 1, guitar on track 2 on the Tascam. Would it be the same procedure as if I were recording from a microphone? I'm assuming it would be Tascam > interface > Cubase, so on the Audio Connections - Inputs' settings, each mono input from the bus (interface) should represent track 1 and track 2 on the Tascam, given that track 1 is panned all the way to the left and track 2 to the right on the Tascam. Am I getting this right? I'd appreciate any help, I'm just starting to learn all of this!

Hi buddy, question about the main monitors/ speaker..... So you manually muted the main speaker monitors, using your focusrite. When you are recording in a single room, e.g. one musician, accustic piano, is there a way to get a) monitors speakers to turn off when you go into record and B) input busses to turn off when you go into play back? Or better just make a quick key to mute inputs on play back and deactivate monitors when you record? Or is the Mute button on the audio interface the only good option on record and mute the input channels on playback? Thanks!!!
@LaolaLoges11 ай бұрын
Thank you. This was really really helpful! I have one question though: You mentioned if the gain was to low when recording - re-record by setting more gain at the interface. So why shouldn't I just boost the lowgain rec. with the (Track-) Volume (the one in the upper Menu / Track Menu?) instead?

Thanks, for the video! So, I have a Yamaha MG16XU, but when I select the VST audio system (Yamaha Steinberg USB Asio) it only shows two physical ports (Line 1, Line 2) instead of the 16 that should appear. Do you know what I can do to solve that problem?

Good Tutorial videos, Jeff. Thank you. I have a question - I have recorded a few MIDI Tracks with external synth (not instrument track), then I added an audio track to record my vocal, set the input to mono channel 1 as you taught in this video. My problem is when I recorded the vocal, it also recorded the external synth tracks along with my vocal into my audio track! Can you please reply how to solve this problem?

Really need advice please! I want to start writing music again using Cubase. Some years ago I used to have a desktop, however now I own a laptop and will need an external sound card. Majority of the work is to be with VST instruments and Midi keyboard. I am considering audio interfaces but don't know if they can be used for VST work (and not audio). Could you please spare some advice as its been a long time for me. I am thinking of Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 or Behringer UMC404HD Audio Interface - would ether of those allow me to work with low latency in Midi signal and using VST only? ( Does the Midi keyboard connect to the interface directly or still to the PC/Laptop through a USB? I think the laptop I have should be sufficient: Intel Core i5 8300H, 8 Gig Ram, GeForce GTX-1060 (6 Gig video memory), SSD. Thank you in advance!

I've been trying to setup Cubase 11, connected by Harbinger L1402FX-USB mixer to record vocal/instruments or vocal with youtube karaoke in 1 vocal track, the other is youtube but when I plug in the mixer, my computer see a different device name "USB Audio Codec" instead of "Samsung UC Audio" which this mixer manual written. I click in Studio setup (Cubase), then Audio system, there's only 1 driver shown: "Generic Low Latency ASIO driver". Are the USB mixers required to download/Install driver to work with Cubase ? I also have struggled with I/O, bus adding. Hopefully you or somebody can help me out here.Thanks
