I’m a Pittsburgher transplanted to the Highlands of Papua New Guinea (Oceania). The common language of the people is Pidgin, but our bees definitely speak Buzz!

Now that is a great Ideal to handle drones to learn how to mark queens. I haven't mark a queen yet but I will this year. Buzz i think?? Thanks for your info !!! God bless..

CAN you give me reference where I would find the life expectancy. So far I have found charts which are impossible to read, the script being so small

The beekeepers bible book has life expectancy of a worker at 4-6 during the active season. A drones life is mating dependent since they die when they mate but the ones I practiced marking lasted about a month. A queen lasts on average 1-3 years. Now thats based on the beekeepers bible book. I'll get you an online answer as soon as I can find one.

Thank you for this. I am sorry I was so vague. I am studying the anatomy and life of the varroa mite right now. I thank you for the reference you gave me on the bee. It will help me. But it is that of the life expectancy and cycle of life of the mite that I am looking for as to put in parallel and compare with that of the bee. As far as queen knowing they have a stingner, I think that when it is the battle between queens..hum...it really comes out. Have you ever come across that battle? I thank you for your channel. I think it is the best one that I have come across that I would qualify as taking the intellectual approach in its content. I like other videos where they use a more practical approach which is good and necessary, but comes a time when one needs to get to the classroom too. I think there was a vacuum for this and you fill it at least for me quite well. Hope you continue in this because for me it is hard to know that which I don’t know and need to know. Your presentations are structure and for me easy to follow.

Here's what I have on the varroa lifespan. bee-health.extension.org/varroa-mite-reproductive-biology/ I really appreciate your kind words. I think I'm comfortable with an intellectual approach right now because it's easy for me to look up subjects in publications and validate what I already know. That way my information is correct. When I try a practical approach I can get tongue tied and say the wrong thing on accident.
