Hi Dave, a sincere thank you for all of the free, tremdous knowledge you have provided for us. Many of us appreciate it more than you know. The least I can do to express my gratitude is shop from The Pathfinder Store whenever I can. Just a fun question...what is the song at the end of this video that is also used as an intro to many of your newer videos? Is it by Badhorse as well? I love it and it fits your style perfectly. Thanks, again, for everything, sir! -Dave

You made that pile of sticks stand up and splay out like a Daddy Long Legs. From where I sit, it looked like the spark caught on some punk wood instead of cloth. Charred punk wood takes a little more blowing than char cloth. I love these longer videos. Thanks!!!

Guys (and girls)... Really? The man is sharing knowledge from his life's work, sparing many of us from ignorant mistakes, and you are concerned about how long his hair is? Dave, I wouldn't care if you had the word "Sunshine" shaved down the side of your dome. The things you have taught me (for free!) are priceless. I appreciate what you do. This video is a great one to share with my boys (9 and 15). Keep on doing what your doing.

Cool video. I like your, setup especially pack hanging trick. Rope is such a great tool, so underestimated. I have learned the hard way about bringing a rubber mat with me. In the past I used to use a nice insulated sleeping back to substitute from some of the items this guy is talking about, but trust me when you are sleeping on a rocky terrain a rubber mat is a must, even if you have a tent. You spend one night sleeping on tough ground and you'll appreciate that rubber mat this guy recommends.

I would dig a hip ditch, a 3" deep trench in the ground after the ground barrier has been set up. (6-8" total of dug dirt depending on the time of year). That way, as a side sleeper, I can sleep better, rest fully, and not have to worry about a tweaked back when I wake up.

A sitting/sleeping pad I ran across accidentally is a car sun visor. I had one in my truck, the kind that is like a heavy duty bubble wrap. It was white on one side, reflective on the other. Sitting pad, sleeping pad, moisture barrier and you could potentially stake it behind a fire for a reflector.

The instant you said "tick" I started itching all over. Hate those things. They weren't a big deal at all when we were kids (I'm 42) and I used to get covered in them out playing in the fields. Nowadays though, they're carrying all kinds of nasty diseases and are scary as heck. :(

I particularly enjoyed this episode. Lots of people don't know that a campfire can travel through roots and start a forest fire. On a humorous note; in the absence of a haircut, I'm wondering if you didn't get contaminated with Cody Lundin's Hippie genes. Not that there's anything wrong with that.... ;) Thank You Dave for posting all these videos, I sure have learned a lot from them. We all love Layla bug, please incorporate her whenever possible into your videos, she's a treasure.

Dave, this one was hard to watch! You walking in the beautiful green woods with your Springfield Armory M6 scout cradled in your arms. I love that gun and want one bad, but the ones I've seen, handled, and shot, were either not for sale, or obscenely priced. My Dad had an old double barrel 410 with a .22 on top between the shotgun barrels, unfortunately it was stolen.

@alexander tisell depends on the weather, for me when in nice weather like this, I set up my camp first then just before night I get my fire started. In bad weather I find a good spot for a fire ,get it prepared, and build my shelter around it so I can capitalize on the fire when settling in for the day/night. I'm not an expert but this works for me.

As long as you check for and pull ticks nightly you should not have a problem with disease transmission, most tick diseases, Lyme, STARI, RMSF, HME, take anywhere from 24-48 hours imbedded for transmission
