Didnt know there was so much info involved, thanks for the lesson, guess i'll be reading your posts a lot more than once, wow. Photography is all about light, so my light sauce has always been the sun and in uk this has a mind of its own. A bit late for me now to learn all this but giving it a go, So low light is faster, this has been my biggest eye opener. Guess a key light would help. Costa Rica sounds really great, all the wildlife ive dreamed of, beat wishes Greg,

V860II over V1? Great ebook btw. Love it.
@deepgreenphotography

Thanks, Robert. Glad you enjoyed the e-book. Great question on the flash choice between V860II and V1. I actually did a little test of the V1 and didn't find the lighting quality to be much different/better, despite all of the hype about round heads. While I do like the smaller charger of the V1, I'm not convinced that it's worth the extra price. It is a very nice flash unit though. Cheers, Greg

Found this just in time as I start a move into flash photography after many years of resisting the option. I have been doing sports photography and flashes are problematic during competition. However, post-game opportunities can be enriched with flash.

Great video Greg. Will the transmitter work with my Nikon sb5000? This looks way easier than working with the Nikon setup with a wr10 transmitter. Going to switch to the Godox. Was just hoping the transmitter would trigger my 5000. Thanks and really looking forward to your wireless video.
@deepgreenphotography
@deepgreenphotography 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Paul. Thanks very much for your kind comments on the video. Unfortunately, no, I'm almost certain that the Godox transmitter will not work to fire your SB-5000 flash, even in manual flash mode. I do share your pain regarding the wr10. A solution, however, especially if you're considering adding Godox flashes to your kit and starting to build/grow around that, is to buy a Godox X1R-N receiver for about $40 (amzn.to/2Z6Wyc0) and attach your Nikon flash to that. This should allow you to control your Nikon SB-5000 off-camera with full TTL and HSS capability via a Godox XPro transmitter for about $65 (amzn.to/3rEGJ8w) in the hotshoe of your camera body. With the XPro transmitter, you can then start adding Godox flashes to the mix with no extra equipment necessary, and you could work in your Nikon SB-5000 too. I hope that helps! Feel free to hit me up here with any follow up questions. Best, Greg

Hi Greg. To photograph diving king fishers at 600mm, from 6-7 meters distance, is it needed to use a fresnel flash extender like the MagBeam or the flash itself would be enough?
@deepgreenphotography
@deepgreenphotography 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Cristian. That's a good question. The answer of course is, it depends :-) If you are using your fill flash in concert with the ambient light, that means a low dose of flash (e.g., a very low flash power and thus very brief duration). High ISO values will also help the flash in terms of keeping up with a burst. In this case, your flash will recycle quickly and will probably keep up with a burst. If you are underexposing the available nature light and relying more on the flash that will equate to a higher flash power/longer duration/slower recycling time, and a Better Beamer or MagBeam will help to make the flash work more efficiently and thus recycle more quickly. In general, though, when using flash for action photography, a flash extender definitely will help. Cheers, Greg
