A while ago you suggested the PLSK1 to me and I recently had the chance to acquire one. I was apprehensive as this was the most expensive knife I have ever purchased but since I received it, it has literally NOT left my side! Another great video. With all the stuff going around about knife safety right now is very good for the community. I have used a knife since I was about 6, in my mid 40s now. I didn't think I needed to learn any other knife skills. About 5 years ago my kids and I were shrafting, I power cut a limb and not three seconds later my son walked through the circle of blood where my followthrough would have gotten him in the neck. Dave....I was in the last year or so working on a small compressor, cutting some vents in plastic with a small pen knife and I slipped and the small knife (I was choked up on the blade so only 1/2 was exposed) severed an artery in my wrist. I think about knife handling and anything pointy handling every waking moment now. I see a lot of videos by others that make me cringe........be it knife handling or just operating powered machines. Keep up the good work, my friend.

It's hard to beat a Mora for a good common man bushcraft knife. I have one of your leather sheaths for mine and that improves it greatly in my opinion.

About 5 years ago my friend bought a fire starter, we had no idea how to use it and he was cutting the magnesium off and striking with the blade edge. Needless to say, after just a few attempts the knife wasn't in the greatest shape lol.

It goes crazy (sound at about 7:30 to 9:25. Sound goes away and then there are two sound tracks for a while....

We have the luxury of KZfaq and a Dave Canterbury. Dave, Who was your Dave Canterbury? How long did it take to get the knowledge you have? I know you talk about Boone, Nessmuk and others. You are not old enough to have hung with them and you cannot get all this from their writings.

Hey Dave, I was wondering if the coating on the blade needs to be removed in order to use it with flint for fire starting? In pictures I've seen, it appears to be more of an anodized finish rather than a heavy black coating like the TOPS and Becker knives have on them. Great video by the way.

Dave, what are your thoughts on the Condor Bushlore that you sell at your store for under $50. I have that knife and it is a really solid knife, much more so I would think than a rat tail tang Mora. I paid $30 for Bushlore, and for the money it can't be beat.

I'm never in the woods and always cutting myself with no risk of infection and tons of soap and water a few feet away. I've learned so many bad habits.

I prefer to peel my bark of like a banana almost on smaller saplings like that. Run you two circles around the circumference of the pole, cut a vertical line connecting the two circles, and you should be able to stick your thumb up under line and just peel off that entire section you just cut up

Didn't hear anything about a falling knife. A dropped or falling knife has no handle. I have seen people reach for a falling knife and pull back a cut appendage. Just a thought. Might have missed it when lost sound

dave when you were sharpening your Mora, the angle looked way too steep and sure enough when i watched full screen it clealy showed you were putting a secondary bevel, instead of shrpening the full Scandi grind. Why do you choose to do that, instead of pushing the FULL scandi grind plane down on the stone with your finger like most do (and certainly Ray Mears does on his waterstone videos. His entire scandi grind edge is sharpened not just the last 1/6th inch of it like it showed you were doing as if it were an american case knife or something. Also you ARE sharpening your blade with the diamond and portable water stone. HOning would be what you do with a rod with NO SHARPENING DIAMONDS ON IT LIKE A KITCHEN STEEL.
