Absolutely beautiful design idea! However; if there is one thing I may suggest! In the front of those slots for the wrenches, or many other tools, you could rasp the front of the slot, in a slightly open "V" shape, to make it much easier to replace the tool back, to its original position on the wall rack.
@phanties4 ай бұрын
I would use an oscillating tool not a rasp.
@Wateringman4 ай бұрын
@@phanties Nope. Too many woodworkers are sold and convinced now on the idea of power tools. A cabinet makers hand stitched teeth rasp, is a dream to use. Expensive; but worth every penny. It gives not only total control to you, but leaves no marks on the wood. And because you do it by hand, it allows to choose precisely how wide, and what angle better than a power tool. All you get is speed with the oscillating rasp insert. But total control of the shaping still belongs in the hand. While machines can achieve the task faster and more exacting, I find the wonder of hand finishing a wonderful feeling. Guess we both march to different drums. 😄
@phanties4 ай бұрын
@@Wateringmanyep, I guess we do. It’s funny how BStarCrafts gave a heart to your augmentation to their idea, but you wrote me a book report on why my augmentation of yours was wrong (which started with “Nope”). Your view on modern tools is admirable, though BStar did use a TABLESAW to make this, and I’m assuming you are responding to me on a modern silica chipped device, not something whipped up in the Old Yankee Woodshop. If you are going to be critical you should also be receptive, Geppetto. 😝 🥁 🥁
@Wateringman4 ай бұрын
@@phanties Most projects that anyone does nowadays are done partially with power tools, and partially with hand tools. I myself have built simple projects with nothing but hand tools, for the purpose of enhancing my skills, and the satisfaction of doing it by hand tools alone. That is my way, and I am entitled to my opinion just as BStar has his, and you have yours. That I extol my views is my opinion. He can agree with me or not. I owe Noone; least of all you; an apology. Just say you don't see it my way, and that I am not you; done deal.
@AdamBechtolКүн бұрын
@@Wateringman Get a hobby, (besides woodworking). Phanties just said what he would use, (nothing about you) and you took it personally and erroneously as a critique of your method. Which normally could be brushed off as a misunderstanding, but you had to go and add that you owed no one an apology (Note, that you were never asked for one) like a petulant twat.

Well, that miter sled is other than a safe tool. Should something happen with the workpiece, your hands may get jammed within the „safety“ device itself. In General- Don’t use your fingers holding down workpieces. Make yourself holders for the sled ,please!

Cleats… cleats as far as the eye can see… beautiful and so versatile that you can basically rearrange the entire wall without touching a tool other than what’s on a cleat itself! I did an entire wall like this in my basement wood shop, the garage auto and welding wouldn’t have worked out for the better so that’s in boxes/carts and magnetic strips. Definitely a win in my book using cleats, nice job!👍🏼👍🏼
