this is very helpful. i always turn my back at sparring. it's just like my reflex when my opponent is pressuring me. I know it's not a good defense. my coach always scold me for that. thank you for this... i know it will help me big time :)

beljaneimiel same here brother , after training my back always hurts because my coach is put kicking me always when i turn my back for a spinning attack, i am lucky thats just technical sparring , in a thai fight in thai land they would eat me alive if i do a big big mistake like that

I like this switch stance move for the other angle.. just gotta watch out for wild hooks as you're stepping across the power hand...

I like this video. In legs strikes, you side step or diagonally step to defend(or even attack). In hands strikes, you can step forward one or half a step to punch or jab. however, you should always keep close(almost borderline in terms of footwork or almost jabbing distance if opponent is leaned back more) to the opponent. You can even do a step diagonally then push kick with the other leg. let opponent miss you by an inch or lesser. in case the power hand or power leg can touch us, better to jab or block as a feint while or before step over.... breaking the rhythm or broken rhythm combo or strikes are extremely important against people with very good combos or rhythm. Make them follow our tempo and rhythm. or confuse them.

switch steps in very good to confuse the enemy.... or switching stance to south paw and vice-versus even during punching and kicking... means for example normal stance left hand jab, then step to south paw and punch to gain distance, but please guard up with left hand when you do that.... similarly for legs. you can mix up left jab followed by right step side step, then left kick... so many variations if we know the centre line theory(5 centre lines for wing chun and zones for body strikes). switch levels(high mid low, very low to kick or trip or sweep calf)

you can step forward for leg teeps or even kicks and step diagonally to punch or jab.. mix up the foot work and hands and kicks. block the potential kicks and punches and anticipate their positions and angles and next few steps. always cover up one side at least of your head or ribs when moving if we are conservative. samart long teeps and surprise positioning and angled teeps and rhythms are good to try out also.....

I always angle to their weak side, there is a threat of the lead hook but if you can maintain a good distance and press their lead hand down, youre pretty much safe.

the eyes of opponents cant detect so well movement that are done by us laterally(from their left to right and right to left, so slightly diagonally angles while left to right or left to right). so you can step from normal stance(against opponent normal stance) left to right while to you are jabbing yet throw your right punch and kicks) and take offense further to move to their sides, but make you reset back to fight stance if you just want to laterally side step to left jab then right straight or right kick(or right straight and right kick simultaneously like original version of superman punch(plus kick)-see sagat fight with american kickboxing champion in earlier years.

I was working on this today and I fucked up, I went up against a southpaw and tried to do this, by stepping out left, I ended up being in the perfect position to eat a roundhouse kick right to the front of my body that actually ended up dropping me to 1 knee, I had to stay down for a good few seconds to recover... Shit pissed me off...

Yeah, I was talking to my partners after class and getting some advice from them. Today was by far my most difficult Muay Thai sparring day. I got put down with that knee, and got dazed twice by 2 hooks, a left and a right by a different person....

Hi What? But the thing is you kept training and kept going on , be proud of that, a fighter isnt only a guy who punches and kicks well , a warrior takes punches and kicks and keeps going forward, to his goal, to his dream . Good luck my friend have a nice day
