I got a book from the library and read a lot of it. It was hard and not too satisfying. This little 306 second video salvaged my interest about trying it. Not cutey pie or condescending, just straight out communication of needed information. Very nice.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm the director and friend of Kingi's The 600 second youtube limitation was the primary reason we had to edit a lot of stuff out or speed it up. The original ran 37 minutes. Kingi sells some materials, instructional DVDs and books plus would likely answer any question you had. You can contact her at kingiatpeachberserkdotcom Thanks for your comments Carson

@Jekudo Actually, you're correct. It can be any light source. but then you have to adjust the exposure time accordingly. I'll try to explain this as I understand it. This may not be entirely accurate but it's not entirely wrong. Warning! Science or math ahead! What exposes the silkscreen emulsion is the lower light frequencies, ie the UV to blue spectrum. (50 to 250 nm) Almost all normal light contains these frequencies but they are concentrated in UV bulbs.

Let me first say I am not Kingi. I shot the video and know some of the nuts and bolts of the process. Kingi has hosted the video under her name elsewhere on youtube. I believe it was around 6 minutes. If/when you build a light table there is an element of experimentation to find the exposure time that works ideally for you given your factors (ie. light source type and quantity, type of emulsion, etc).

@pholoto15 Sorry. Heat has nothing to do with the process. The emulsion is exposed using light, specifically the low end of the spectrum, which is UV to violet. If I recall it's 50 to 250 nanometers. It is specific to the actual emulsion, though.

Some of the emulsion manufacturers sell a low cost exposure calculator or you can make one. Google silkscreen exposure calculator

What a Great Video!! Lot's of great silk screening info and now I think I'm in love too! This vid was a top notch production - better than a lot of TV shows. Great Job!!! Do you think it is possible to silk screen printed circuit boards using your system?

Thats for people who expose using overhead lamps. Light tables are more powerful so they can go right through paper

@sonicfuker You should contact Kingi at Peach Berserk. From what I saw Kingi use screens that had patterns from years ago. You just have to wash it out well. Cheers Carson

YES! I have been on a two-week search to find the easiest, cheapest, fastest, newb-friendly way to screen print. And this is it! I'll start with this stuff first. Then when my skills get more advanced I might consider buying the official Speedball Screening Kit. This is going to be a fun (and profitable) summer ;D Question: is the photo emulsion environmentally safe? if not, how else can I deposit it?

can you re-use that screen for the same job later or does another screen nee to be made a week later?

this is actually the best video that i've seen about screen printing, that comes out great and don't need any expensive machinery. But i have one question: do i have i to use a light source with UV (or other parts of the spectrum e.g infrared) or can i use heat instead, eg hair dryer to expose the images?

Nice video, informative & fun! Question: Does the light sorce need to be UV or can it be any (standard light) source?

Excuse my english! I dont speak english. Im from Brazil. Do you place the clipping photo of direct periodical and the periodic announce in the screen with the emulsion? Why do you not use first scanner to pass the photo for the vegetal paper? Do you place the photos clipping of the newspaper and do the written of the announce of the direct newspaper on the screen that is with the emulsion and does it record in the table with the light uv? Thank and excume again.

yeah we all have a light box and screen mesh lying about.........and photo emulsion it might have took 306 seconds to print but it takes a hell of a lot of prep b4 you get to that stage and you made it look very hard by the way..............you didnt even explain how the image was transfered on to the screen.............
