In my experience it was the opposite, young brits who come to the US on these coaching tour programs where all the parents assume they must be legit because of their accents lol. To be fair some of them were pretty good, but overall they´ve been part of the problem with development in the U.S.

There's an entire professional academy development structure that exists today for the best players, some of which (most MLS academies for example) are totally free, and even most of the pay to play academies have need based scholarships. Top talent in the U.S. isn´t going to silly soccer camps anymore, they have professional year round coaches. The game has changed (thank god). I think it will be another 10 years to really be able to judge the results, but I expect there will be more Pulisic level talent in the years to come.
