I have grown spinning this top from childhood to adult. If there are several tops lying on ground in a circle, we hit the mentioned top by my top so accurately to remove it from the circle. It was a nice game.

You don't have to put it upside down, if you're having trouble you can try pulling the string back fast before fully releasing the top, I actually just let it rip like if I'm throwing a ball just have the top a little bit sideways

Hold the top between two fingers and thumb upside down and throw real quick. Pull back at the last time when top is about to touch the ground

Saw them at Food King and bought one. Swore I was doing it right but the string keeps slipping off and then unraveling. Found this video and sure enough I'm doing it right. Pretty sure this $1 one is just making it harder because it's smooth wood and a bad string.
