I just bought Z6 II and being a photographer I was confused with focussing technique to follow while shooting a video. Whether should I go with AF-C or AF-F and whether I have to keep the AF-On button pressed always like I do in photography. And your tutorial and the demo turned out to be really helpful in this matter. I'm surprised that this video doesn't have much likes by the KZfaq standard. It sucks when KZfaq doesn't suggests these kinds of useful videoes instead of suggesting unworthy tutorials with high number of likes. Kudos to you ma'am ❤️

Very helpful as I’m adjusting to Z series from D series. Blew my mind with the touch screen shortcuts! Autofocus explanation made me grab the camera and add some settings to my U3. Thank you!

I have the z7 and z6, and I’m preordering the z5. I prefer the 6 to the 7 with still photography, though. The 7 is a higher resolution camera, and I shake (due to my lupus and RA), so I have to really increase the shutter speed. Instead of using the reciprocal rule it’s better to double the shutter speed. So if I’m using my 70-200 at 200, then my lowest shutter speed accounting for the resolution and my own camera shake is like 1/500. Then I need a high iso in low light situations. So I use the z7 mainly on a tripod for video 100% of the time. But yes! All the controls are pretty much the same, and I will be doing a lot of videos on all of them. 😍. Glad to have you here!

How to lock shutter dial on camera in video mode? It locks in photo mode, but not in video. During shooting many times had accidentally moved the dial and in result got jittery/shaky footage which is so frustrating.

super tuto. In general, photo and video, do you have any idea the depth of field of the subject tracking box ? I mean that, at F/1.8 or here on your son at F/2.2, do you expect having eyes in focus as if we used eye detection (which is still buggy and laggy in V1.4). For photos, i played with subject tracking for street photo and it is amazing (eye detetcion didn't work at all !) but sometimes when i continuously press the af-on button, the yellow box jumps outside subject, tree,... don't you have that problem ?

I found the Nikon Z50 to be problematic on the autofocus. A lot of my footage has like a pulsating thing going on. It's super frustrating.

What lens do you recommend for a static video of a person just sitting?

I use the 24-70 for myself, but you can always use a cheaper lens like the 35 or 50. If you use something like the 50 or longer you need to make sure you have the space to be back far enough.
