Video providing a new method for tracking the status of a unit. 6mm figures for Blucher rules used as an illustration but works well for other scales and rules too.

Hi, thanks very much for viewing and for the sub - it's really appreciated. I will be showing the full army as part of an 1812 battle report which will be uploaded next week. Kind regards Alun

I still like to put lots of small bases on a mini unit movement tray’. Remove the small bases as strength points are removed. Other small bases can represent things like special rules e.g. a crossed bayonet counter for shock and so on. Little piles of cannon balls that are removed as ammunition is expended and so on.

During the game i would be forever picking up the bases to see the tiny little numbers.

Fair point Richard 🙂 I have since modified them to use a larger font. As always, a matter of personal choice about how you do this. I could leave more space and then have a larger display. I suspect as my eyes worsen, I will be taking this option. Of course, using 6mm figures in the first place also relies on pretty good eyesight 🙂 Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Kind regards Alun

I agree about getting all those dice off the table but why not green? I use a triangular dowel painted green with stats towards me which are invisible to the opponent.

Hi, good point about colour etc. this would certainly help to minimise the visual impact. I don't really have a convincing argument to the contrary, only that I got fixated on using blue for French and green for Russians. I suppose it was partly due to the cards that you can use with Blucher. I'm just finishing off an 1812 battle report and would be very interested in your view on how this comes across from a viewing perspective. Thanks for taking the time to comment too, it's greatly appreciated. Cheers Alun

Sounds interesting. I’d love to see a picture of this as I’m struggling to visualise your method.
