Nice mate. You need very small hooks for gars. Like sabikis. But if there's mackerel there's usually bass. Especially up the harbour.

Trojs Fishing I took my lures down today, but way to windy, I don’t have any in line weights or anything to get the distance, I need a decent spinning rod to as I only have an LRF 5-15g rod and that’s not got the guts

The Portsmouth Angler, if you have a Go Outdoors shop near you, they have 11ft Ron Thompson Bass rods. They are rated to 3oz, but will happily cast 4oz if needed! Have used them for over 5yrs now, never let me down! Only £15 as well. Brilliant for bass, and mackerel spinning! And also had a 15lb Starry Hound on them. Cracking cheap rods.....

Where will you be fishing mate? At this spot you need to cast atleast 100 yards to get half way across ISH. But South parade pier is easy. Can just drop over the edge. Again depends on the venue as to what setup you'll need

You can use bait for bass mate. I was targeting mackerel. Best way is feathers for them
