I love playing BASS guitar very much! I think Bass playing can really teach you a good time feel & song forms so that it makes you a better guitar player. Can you play a bassline for E Blues chord progression? Learning the Bass will absolutely make you a better guitarist!

I just asked my guitar teacher if I should learn bass last week. He said it was one of the best things he did for his guitar playing. Especially when it comes to Jazz and moving baselines. This video just confirms it for me that I need to learn Bass.

Same here. My cousin used to play bass and TLDR I bought one so we could "annoy the neighbours" together. That never did happen but the bass is still here. About time to dig that out now.

I started on acoustic guitar and play for a while. Then switched to bass and have been playing for a couple years. I'm now moving toward more guitar. I would say playing rythum on acoustic made me a better bassist. But playing bass has definitely made me a better guitarist. Helps you understand the fret board and timing like nothing else.

This happened to me!!! I've played guitar for about 17 years now, but decided to pick up bass about a year and a half ago. Once I did my knowledge in theory skyrocketed, my ability to finger pick got so much better, and I learned to leave space for other instruments (sonically/tonally). Best music desicion I ever made

Played mostly bass for many years and it really taught me rhythm, groove and the foundations of chords, melody etc. That foundation really helps the transition to guitar. Only problem now when I pick up the bass the strings feel like thick bars of steel lol 😂

Great lesson! I cannot recommend learning bass enough. It definitely forces you to play simpler parts which is great for thinking about rhythm and harmony. At times, I find that actually makes it easier to write songs with. Also, there are very few things that are more fun to play than a cool bassline.

Bass is an instrument that I'd like to learn. This was great. I still recognize that shuffle groove that Eric Clapton did when he was in The Yardbirds, called Got To Hurry. I like drumming and percussion, but bass is another fascinating instrument to me. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️

I think a lot of guitarists do themselves a disservice by picking up Bass and only learning it as a method of playing the root notes of chords a la punk style. Bass is one of the coolest instruments to know how to play properly. I'd argue the show-off techniques on bass are so much fun.

Bass player here trying to get over the intermediate guitar hump. Two bass recommendations: 1) Turn your bass up and try to play quietly. It will help your technique greatly. 2) Do NOT play 1 finger per fret. It will destroy your hands. Bass requires shifts a lot more than guitar. 3). Tomo is the best!

@TomoFujitaMusic

Thank you so much! Just like a musician way of listening music Album to album (LP) So just limited to only 2-3 records to listen so that these music live inside you forever! Especially blues music. Everyone try to play a good solo...but needed to listen blues music deeply. For example: Listen only 3 records BBKing "Live at the Regal" Freddie King "1934-1976" Earl Hooker "Two bugs and a roach" For 3 - 6 months!

Works for other instruments, too. Learn to play drums, then bring that knowledge back to your bass and guitar. Learn to play the flute and bring THAT knowledge back to drumming, bass, and guitar. Learn modular synthesis techniques.... and so on. There is no "wasted time" learning a new instrument. They all relate to one another in fascinating ways.

Besides hearing the Bass or Drums better in Recordings, If you play Bass or Drums, you will start listening as a Bassplayer or a Drummer. You will start thinking "what do I want to here from the other musicians around me? What makes me as a Bassplayer or a Drummer happy?" If you want to make the Bassist or the Drummer happy, the the way you play the guitar may change. Just some humble thoughts.

I have oft considered a Bass. After all it was good enough for Sting. The 4 strings are the same 4 on guitar just an octave lower so muscle memory is the same. Wonder how 007 theme would sound? B-E-C-E-C#-E-C-E | repeat as wanted :: | E-F#x4|Ex4|Gx4|F#x3 E| Rinse and repeat |When you chose to move on. E|F#x4|GX4|F#x3 E|E|F#x4|Gx3 F# F E| G(3)# E3 | D3 E3) Something like that..

Sting is so cool! Old Precision Bass! Funny part is when I play bass... I can follow the line better without thinking any chord shapes and ARPEGGIOS... has many different ways to play. Basic approach is to play 3 notes. You can play a) 3 notes on one string b) 2 notes & 1 note on two strings c) 1 note & 2 notes on two strings ...Bass playing is naturally so much fun! Thanks for sharing!
@Jack.Waters
@Jack.Waters Ай бұрын
@@TomoFujitaMusic yes. That’s how I do arpeggios. Since I played melody most by life. I don’t arpeggiate chords I just play the notes. What’s clever is. Don’t have to deal with a B string so things are exact like a Piano. Land a finger, above is its 5th below its 4th. No matter where you go. I may just go to pawn shops this weekend.
