Wow, Dimash TOTALLY lived up to the hype -- what an incredible vocal talent! I really, really enjoyed analyzing this one -- Dimash does so many amazing things with his voice, and it was a lot of fun to break them down. Looking forward to the next one! Also, I tried uploading this video FIVE TIMES with varying degrees of blurring, darkening, overlaying text, etc. to avoid copyright issues, and this is what I landed on. I saw that Elizabeth from The Charismatic Voice managed to upload a totally clean video and I have no idea how -- I'm guessing that because her channel is so successful, she probably has power to negotiate since she can give an artist a ton of exposure. Anyway, hope you enjoy!!

Elizabeth (to be precise, her husband) actually negotiated with Yoola (company doing the youtube stuff for Dimash) for a long long time and finally got the permission to upload any reaction to him without the fear of getting blocked. Normal reactors like you and pretty much everyone else will unfortunately have some problems with Yoola though. The most important thing though is to see your reactions and hear your thoughts because most of us viewers will already have watched the video a lot of times. So no worries if you have to blur it or put an overlay over the video, it's totally fine. I loved your reaction & the knowledge you've brought into it. Already subbed to you after your reaction on voiceplay but Dimash is my fav singer of all time for sure, so I'm happy you found him!!! If you want to hear a more operatic performance of him, there is a fresh upload of Ogni Pietra (original) on his channel: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/irJ_icqAncnaqGQ.html It is from his digital concert from January this year. The backstage part is lip synced (show for the start of the concert) but once he is on the stage it's all live.

@@PeterBarber I think if you want to react to Ogni pietra (and you should), it's probably best to react to this version instead. It's all fully live: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGAhpmlnZrVl2g.html Thanks for your analysis, it was awesome and very informative Maybe if you want a more operatic style, you can listen to Ulisse. It's a duet with a full on opera singer (Aida Garifulina). He stays very conventional until the very last notes where he soars with her. Otherwise, there is also Ti amo cosi and he sings with Aida and Lara Fabian who is a pop singer, not fully operatic but I believe he stays in the ranks for the whole song..

Honestly I totally agree -- as someone in the opera world, I can attest to the fact that it's a very niche genre, and very few people are even aware that it's still a thing. Dimash has the potential to introduce tons of people to the amazing art form that would otherwise never experience it

@@PeterBarber Try Olympico / Ogni Pietra - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtGAhpmlnZrVl2g.html an almost operetic style piece written by Igor Krutoy for Dimash. He first sang it at the European Olympic games. Here in concert it is fascinating that he can do this in the same show where he does pop, rock, folk, and even raps. He sings in over a dozen languages and plays a number of instruments. He has performed a few actual opera piece in duets. Also in solo he did a new version of a vocalized Ave Maria (also by Krutoy)

I saw him years ago in a small theatre in LA for a Kazahstan cultural event. He literally ran in as it was about to start. They held for 10 minutes for him to check the mic, etc. He sang 2 songs with music on tape. The sound system was rudimentary. The mic was very dry - no reverb, etc. I was front row center. He had to pull back off the mic - honestly he didn't need one. I'm saying this as someone who ran a musical theatre company for 20 years in a 1,200 seat theatre- his power and control are stunning. Someone asked what genre he sang in and I answered "yes".

Peter, I'm hugely impressed by how knowledgeable your commentary and analysis of Dimash's craft is. It's even more appreciated when one has to wade through dozens of 'reaction' videos where the person reacting is all too often incapable of going beyond 'wow... insane'. Your perceptive grasp of the more elusive aspects of vocal craft and the nuances of Dimash's artistry makes watching this video a real treat. Truly, a stellar vocal phenom is matched by a mind of equal ability to appreciate it. Respect.

Hello Dimash is the best singer in the world, and he is singing live, there is no pre-recording, neither in this, nor in any interpretation of Dimash. He can play the note he wants anytime he wants, go from tenor to soprano in one second, sing in any style, and hold notes for 20 seconds. Dimash has been singing since he was 5 years old. If vocal range is 7 octaves. He is a genius.

You mix pears with apples. Many televised productions require content to be pre-recorded. It doesn't even have to do with the singer, it's a question of methodology and logistics. If you really believe that no Dimash performance is prerecorded, then you live in a shoebox.

Another good Dimash for lower register is “Love Is Like A Dream”. For vocal Olympics, “Sinful Passion”; his native language ability to perform subharmonics is incredible. “Opera 2” is fun from his time on the singing competition. Incredible slides!

As you can see, Dimash understands the importance of conveying the real story of music through performance. His total commitment to the story in appearance, dress, body language, and emotion is like a mini-opera. Or a Popera if you like. His intense operatic, blues, jazz, folk, world, and pop music training are all elements within the story. Every performance is a work of art.

This song was explained as the act of reincarnation the slight stumble was the moment of birth. His next song released is "Fly Away" which is the path through life, then the song "Ave Maria" is at the moment of death and entering Heaven that explains the colors of his clothing white being the entrance into glory. 👉 A Dear wrote: “Dimash is not only a singer, but a messenger of something very deep that has been lost in music lately ... Dimash invades our soul and never leaves it.” On August 19, 2021, for the first time the sound of kobyz was heard on the stage of the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. The tandem of Igor Krutoy (piano) and Dimash Qudaibergen (voice) with the best Kobys player in the world Olzhas Qurmanbek, have presented a new, really unique song in English with enchanting oriental melodies. The idea to add kobyz to the new song came to Dimash after he first heard the melody "Stranger". He decided that the folk instrument would fit perfectly into the song, giving it an exciting sound. The performer of the kobyz part is Olzhas Kurmanbek. The music was created by Russian song-writer Igor Krutoy (musictitan, billionaire), and the lyrics were written by Mary Sharon Vaughn (*1947, is an American musician, songwriter and producer. She writes hits for famous singers around the world) The main arrangement was made by Dimitris Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan). “It was Dimash’s talent that inspired me to write this song, his immense vocal abilities and his desire to sing for a large international audience. Franky, I don’t see anyone else who could perform this piece in such a way”, - Krutoy said. (Source: Dimashnews) 👉 Backstage-video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/laqmpLyJ2LOzcas.html 👉 The New Wave’s story started in 2002, and for many years it has been one of the most iconic music events not only in Russia, but for the entire world. The television audience of the New Wave covers more than 200 million people. In this year’s finale, 11 participants from 9 countries will fight for the grand prize of modern pop music. In 2021 Dimash took part at the New Wave as a guest and juror. In 2018 Dimash was was invited as a guest for the first time in 2018 by Igor Krutoy. Asia Музыка gave this info about the Kobyz instrument: It is an ancient tool of the people who lived in the East, including nomads. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. The Kobyz is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many peoples, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horsehair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre. The musician Olzhas Kurmanbek,is probably the best player in the world right now. Dimash's ending note is held for 19.52 seconds.

The instrument at the beginning and further on is the Kobyz, a traditional Kazach instrument. Dimash IS also an opera singer though, he was invited to come work at the opera of Astana, but he turned the offer down because this was not what he wanted to limit himself to. He wants to do everything; opera, jazz, pop, soul, folk, ...he even raps. At the moment his range is at least from C2 to D8, but it's still evolving. Apart from that he's a multi instrumentalist (piano, drums, dombra, ...). But I think the most impressive thing is his humble, grateful, respectful enchanting personality. Maybe fun for you to check out Olympico (Ogni Pietra).

I think people get very confused between what Opera is and what Classical training is. Dimash has never called himself an opera singer, and the only piece of Opera I’ve heard him sing was from Lucia Di Lammermoor, the aria from the mad scene. It’s used in the Fifth Element to precede the Diva Dance which he sings as well. Even the song Tu Vas ma Detruire he sings with Sundet is from a musical and not an opera. His is however classically trained in the Bel Canto style, as well as his Jazz training and musical theatre. His musical education has been excellent. His classical training as well as everything else gives him the vocal techniques he employs is the cross-over genre which is the style in which he has said he hopes to further his career. But who knows where this magnificent singer will end up because he can’t be boxed in , he turned down the opportunity to sing in an opera company, he wants to do his own thing which includes singing his own compositions. Thank you so much for not having a classical bias and seeing this quality singer for what he is, and for appreciating the skill he has and the work it has taken to get there. STRANGER has become one of my favourites, but I have many where Dimash is concerned.

Maybe I can suggest something that you would like to react and analyse. Ogni pietra or Olympico is a really good song that I think you would like to listen to. He sings a bit more in the style of opera I guess......(I really don’t have any knowledge of the genres, just a little knowledge from KZfaq videos)...... and the more recent version of that song would be better I guess...... versions really have nothing different in what he does vocally, I just think the backing music in the recent one is the better one of all, as of now... and he sings from baritone to soprano, again there’s that wide range of his.......hope you do react to it 😊
