Welcome back!
This is a video documented project you'll want to break open your wallet and grab a coffee or beer to watch. In this video I am performing a delete of the OE 9 gallon livewell, turning that into a dry storage compartment, and giving the #basstracker a MASSIVE tournament ready style 16 gallon livewell in it's place.
This project is not for the faint of heart and is somewhat of a physically demanding job, but the rewards are well worth the benefits. The conversion will not be cheap either, but it's as they say a B.OA.T stands for Break Out Another Thousand! You will find yourself running to the hardware store and your local marine store or an online store to buy small items every so often throughout the conversion if you choose to do it yourself. I got very familiar with Home Depot, Ace Hardware, West Marine, and Amazon while I was doing this needless to say.
You will need a variety of parts and tools, including, but not limited to:
- Channel locks
- Crescent wrenches
- Holesaws (ranging from 3/4" all the way up to 4")
- Drill bits
- A rivet gun
- Cordless drill
- Jig saw
- Body saw (optional)
- Dremel
- Sandpaper (80 and 120 grit)
- Long reach aluminum 3/16 rivets
- EPDM gasketing foam (P/N displayed in video)
- 3/16" Trim-lok or edge guard (P/N displayed in video)
- Worm drive clamps (match size from old fittings)
- 90* 1 1/8" thru hull fittings (for new drain out plumbing)
- TH Marine TH-750XL thru hull fitting (for pump out fitting at the top of the transom)
- 1" Barbed PVC adapter and plug (found at local hardware store)
- Loctite PL or 3M 5200
- Marine rated RTV silicone (optional)
- 8'x4' 1" and 2" styrofoamfoam board
- Green Guard or XPS style 2'x2' 1" foam board (x4)
- 1" PVC board (optional)
- 1" plastic cable clamps (x6)
- Spade electrical connectors
- 14 gauge wiring (for livewell timer)
- Livewell timer
- 800 GPH Recirculation pump
- Flow-rite MP-1200 recirc/ pump out combo nozzle
- Screw in mesh screen (for recirculation pump inlet)
- Spare screw in plug (to plug overflow hole) Tracker PN: TR185721
- Ribbed style 1 1/8 hose (9 feet at most)
- 3/4" clear vinyl hose (for recirc pump to recirc combo nozzle) (24" at most)
- 3/4" reinforced vinyl hose (for pump out portion of nozzle)
- 3/4" double locking quick racheting clamps
- 16 gallon livewell (Lund PN: 1858039) Call Lund directly, Greatlakesskipper or TH- Marine
There may be a few more items to this list, but those are the primary things I can think of right now. As I mentioned, this is a project for sure, but one well worth the benefits if you plan to keep your boat for a very long time, or just want to add more value to it for the short term for you (tournaments) or the long haul if and when you sell it.

Thanks Matt! I was going for the factory look with equal- to or better than factory functionality for sure. I can't wait until the fishing season really heats up this spring and summer so I can really run it through it's paces.

The livewell is probably the more difficult piece to obtain out of all things here. You need to call Lund directly and give them part number I provided in the description. If that doesn't pan out you would have to call either Greatlakesskipper or th marine.

I did. I used the tubing from the aerator but the drain only allowed for a 1" hose at most and I was trying to run a corrugated style 1 1/4 hose through one of the access ports beneath the deck and the hole wouldn't have worked, so I had to ditch the drain and run my own similar to the 175 TXW's.

Mm... Open up the drain cover and have a second person to help you pull it out. Unscrew the aerator tubing at the pump itself and don't use too much pressure when you pull and just play with it as it slowly comes out going in a in and out sort of fashion to help keep it from jamming up.

So my live well isn't located right there on my classic xl..it's located in front of the console. Mine has a storage compartment in that location.i was hoping this would be a video on converting that storage compartment into a bigger livewell

That's exactly what this video is. It involves deleting the front console mounted livewell and retrofitting a new one into the storage compartment location.

Unfortunately there is not. You will just have to keep looking. If you want to run a slightly larger version (more work involved due to size) you can always hit up Tracker and get a 21 gallon livewell tank off their 175TXW.

Phenomenal job. May I ask: cost approximately? How does it run with a full livewell aft like that?

Thank you! It actually runs pretty darn well with a 220 lb passenger, full gear loadout, full fuel tank, and livewell full. In calm waters I was getting about 37.4 mph (this was just a quick general test of it, not an extended trial) and the holeshot was not too bad considering all the extra weight that it normally doesn't see. I think I was coming in at about 5-5.5 seconds for that. I never did a cost break down of the project, I lost track due to all of the nickel and diming that I had to deal with buying dumb little things here and there to continue moving the project along.

You will have to check with Greatlakesskipper or TH Marine. If neither of them have it you may have to call Lund directly because it is their livewell. Either way you will have to make calls because it's not available online from my searching. Full info is on the description of the video by the way so anything you will need is referred to there.

They should have made that deck wider in the front and put a bigger livewell up front

I wouldn't have bought the boat if it came with a front livewell truthfully. Every bass boat has a livewell in the back compartment right behind the seat and that's what I was duplicating here. I wouldn't have been mad if the boat was wider at all in the front!

The tank I acquired through a member off a bass tracker forum who had it and was going to use it for his livewell build but ultimately didn't do it. The tank can be found through suppliers I indicated in the description of my video. If you can't find it through them, get back to me and I will try and direct you to another place who may have it. Though it is likely a Lund livewell tank based on the PN that was on the side of the tank.

Thanks a bunch! The bezel is actually a sticker that you just lay over whatever surface you are putting it on. It comes in the package and once you have installed the timer you just take off the removable black knob, lay the sticker over it, realign the knob to match the marks on the sticker and she's all done!
