This is a short fight scene I made a while back that was primarily purposed to experiment with set design. And I had also just made the bastion Lego figure, and had an itch to use it 😁. Ya know…
Animated at 18 FPS. 862 pictures taken.

The practical glow and lasers look so good. I still don’t see how you can isolate the flashlight glow to the paper. Whenever I do this it spills onto the background and isn’t bright enough to make the paper glow.

Thanks! The forest set is one of the biggest reasons I created this animation. I had just got the bricks to build the trees off of Bricklink, and I wanted to experiment with how the set looked!

I really liked the shots. I read somewhere you use paper and light and now I realize you use toothpicks for bullets. I'm pretty sure I saw a lolly stick, too.

That was so awesome. Your practical effects never cease to amaze. Bastion is my favorite Overwatch character so you scored some brownie points there. Only critique Id really have is the lack of easing in & out. I get you were probably trying to go for an anime vibe, but a lot of the movements felt TOO exaggerated and there were a few bits that were hard to follow along with. Still a top tier animation tho. 10/10 would recommend

I agree. I have not animated a lot of one on one fights. I have a hard time finding just the right balance between to fast to understand, and to slow to feel impactful! I’ll get there…

For the most part, it was transforming. But the legs were replaced with a turret base.

It wasn’t too bad. The bastion was a bit difficult to get to move the way I wanted it to since it was brick built. but other than that it was fun!
