We are so excited to have family in town for my brother Jackson's wedding this weekend! My parents are staying in Central Florida for a few days and we're soaking up time with them (especially the kids who are enjoying the pool and are quite literally soaking it up!).
My mom was able to join me for a doctors appointment for Baby William this week which was such a blessing for me. Usually I'll have to go alone as Chad watches our children, so it was a special visit where my mom was able to meet my doctor, hear William's heartbeat, and learn more about how the pregnancy is going as we continue to countdown the weeks (maybe even days!).
On the drive home, we had a "Car Ride Q&A" where I was able to ask my mom some questions and she responded with some of her own. I find my mom to be a wealth of knowledge and I am so encouraged when she shares her wisdom with me (and I'm grateful to be able to share it with you).
During the Q&A session I referenced an author and books that are wonderful for marriage. The author is Gary Thomas and the 3 books I recommended are:

Yes my husband and I hated when the show stopped filming. I am so happy that many of their kids have channels so we can keep up with the family. They are all so wonderful.

Momma Bates is so right about fears... ❤ I have had all high risk pregnancies... lots of fears... the 10th of August, this year, I was rushed into emergency C-section at 31wks along... ❤ was so scary and how sick i was made me feel so low and weak emotionally and spiritually... but having Jesus is what got me through... im so so glad I can trust Him! Our teeny preemie just came home last week and we cannot thank Him enough for how good He has been, for the miracles He has performed in our lives this year. ❤ My favorite song right now is, "Im Not Afraid To Trust Him", by the Blythe family. Was listening to it right before they came in and told me that I wouldn't last another day and if we wanted our sweet baby girl to survive we would have to go into C-section within the hour.❤

I had 2 c sections, and don't think they are that bad to have, in my experience. My second baby was a nightmare pregnancy. I had a lung condition, as I had pneumonia during pregnancy, in which I was hospitalized. My lungs were crowded and they were looking for an excuse to do an early birth, and did stress tests, but she passed them all. Finally, I was hospitalized right before 37 weeks, and my water broke on the floor of my room suddenly, to my utter shock. My husband had prayed for direction, then I call him about half and hour later and tell him my water broke, and I was prepped for emergency surgery. After hours after birth, the baby was taken by ambulance to a hospital with a NICU. My husband then would come see me at Hospital A and then drive to Hospital B to see the baby. It goes for an interesting birth story.

Mama Bates I love the passage from Matthew 6.21. In November 14th 1985 I gave birth to my 1st child . A child born out of trauma. He lived only 3 months I heard that bible verse I knew no matter how long I had him with me he needed a name . I named him Matthew. I struggled a lot over these 30 plus years but I returned to that bible verse and it eases my soul. I know people have different opinions on tattoos but I wanted to keep my son close so I had a tattoo of a teddy bear with Matthew 6.21 under it. ❤

I always love the deep conversations with you Mrs. Bates. You really get beneath all the fluff (“christianese talk”) and get to the things that really make a difference. You’re so right, it’s so important to get on that same page with your spouse and make a plan together beforehand, because the last thing you want to do going into a stressful and physically painful situation is assume your spouses’ needs and wants. Purposefully setting time aside to communicate, listen and pray together is key. I can imagine, even if all you have is a few minutes, you sharing some of your wisdom and having some girl talk on your own channel. I’d really would look forward to that! I really enjoy at the end of your videos it seems we get a piece of wisdom and knowledge from you guys... Your Mother is full of wisdom and knowledge and having babies is a great time to encourage one another and I truly think that our best comes out when we it’s go time and you’ll see just how close his walk is with the Lord and I think it’s a beautiful but yet powerful thing to experience...
