I love it how the whole album is just a little bit over 25min long and we stil have more than 3min of wind blowing and thunder. Great!

Bathory is the best black metal band ever!

I am from Montreal. We use to have a great radio show being aired on friday night from 22:00 to midnight at CHOM fm 97.7fm, it was called the Metal File. 3 songs were being played for each band part of the show. It was 1984 and I remember hearing the song «WAR» thinking that this was total evil music. Still, yes a true classic

this was much different from what i was expecting going in. feels much more similar to thrash, and these vocals are fucking epic. definitely succeed in sounding like a demon. favorite song was Raise of the Dead. really great album.

Oh my Master! Thomas Börje Forsberg is an epoch-making musician... with a band that basically never existed... He created and launched Black Metal with his first three LPs recorded in a garage, he actually wrote and played the songs alone, because the band members were only on the album cover indicated. "Ace" was a genius full of wild ideas, but he was also the world's greatest illusionist. Rest in Peace!

i heard about this band mid 80´s when i was still a teen but i never listened to them and i didnt even know they were swedish untill i saw a documentary about swedish metal between 80-2010+ and i have to say what a guy this was coming up with this long before it was even cool. Ok Metallica was out at this time with ride the lightning i think. RIP Quorthon.

Quorthon was actually a minority of one, his father produced the albums and he played most of the instruments, there was the photographer who filmed his videos and a drummer who played with him in the begining but the rumor is that he wasn't good enough so he left, but also these people who had any connection with him can't tell much about him, the founder of black metal and viking metal is actually an anonymous, this man was interesting in only one thing, to create his music, a true artist indeed!!!

I'm here on my first listen, looking for new bands lol. I'll give a little commentary for each track. 0:00 *Storm of Damnation:* I like the intro. I'm enjoying the ominous ambience. Sounds like cannonfire and hell sirens. Clock chiming like the witching hour. A nice start to the album. 3:05 *Hades:* OOOOHHH I LIKE THIS. SUPER dark for the era it was released in. Just looked up the lyrics, really feels like desolation in the abyss. The guitar is fuckin sick. 5:50 *Reaper:* Damn more solid guitar. The vocals are strong on this one. Once again, super dark, very enjoyable, something I'm sure a lot of arguments were started over in Christian households which makes me very happy. 8:37 *Necromancy:* LOVE the title lmao. Those drums are going HARD. And I strongly concur with these lyrics 😌 "To bend before our horny God" ugh me too Satan, me too 12:17 *Sacrifice:* THIS GUITAR JUST DOESN'T STOP AND I AM DYING. I wanna raise Hell right now who's with me? 😈 15:35 *In Conspiracy with Satan:* OK WITH EVERYTHING I'VE HEARD SO FAR AND THESE FUCKING TITLES I AM OBSESSED. Tbh I just wanna enjoy listening now but I hope this was entertaining and didn't waste anyone's time entirely lmao. I'm definitely subscribing for the sake of YT Music but it's a fucking SHAME they're no longer active. This shit live with today's tech and sfx would be competition for Rammstein ugh.
