I’ve reached the age now that I recently started to need and use those safety bars . Because of the diabetes foot issues. Plus the diabetes nerve pain in my legs . I have the tile in my bathroom . For the walk in shower and I have a shower chair so I can sit down. Thanks for your video

Thanks for sharing your story. I personally think that everyone should use grab bars in their shower and tub. It's just a smart thing to do, at any age.

Thanks so much for this video! Looks like a great product, although admittedly very disheartened that it's not compatible with fiberglass. Do you know if there are any suction grab bars that you would recommend which are indeed compatible with fiberglass?

Glad it was helpful! It seems that the Carex Suction Grab bar can work on Fiberglass - amzn.to/3KymvsY Just be careful with these. They do not support your full weight and are not meant to be used if you need to rely on a grab bar to pull yourself up or even to just sit down in the shower.

This is the most dangerous item you can buy, and a false sense of security. I purchased this for my mother about 3 years. I tried everything to make it work, It would not stick to surface I even tried glue. My mother is 92 years old and very frail. It's a good think I was home at the time. She fell in the bathtub and was hurt very bad. All because of these dame suction plastic rails, not holding up the way it's described. She was in the hospital for 4 days, and now there is a big lawsuit on going. Please do not rely on this product. Reply

This is the most dangerous item you can buy, and a false sense of security. I purchased this for my mother about 3 years. I tried everything to make it work, It would not stick to surface I even tried glue. My mother is 92 years old and very frail. It's a good think I was home at the time. As I mentioned in the video, I think several times, that a suction grab bar is NOT meant to be used as a traditional grab bar. It's really just meant for anyone who simply requires a little help with their balance. It will NOT support anyone's full weight and it also needs to be re-attached most every day. This truly is one of those products where it's important to read the fine print and that was part of the reason that I made this video and I mentioned on our website, seniorsafetyadvice.com, in several articles that although it may seem like a great alternative to a traditional grab bar, it's simply not worth it. I am sorry for what happened to your mother and I do hope that she is better. But again, a suction grab bar is NOT meant to hold up someone's full weight and should NOT be used in place of a traditional grab bar.

These are not safe, please install real grab bars that are permanently mounted. When you have a real emergency and it needs to support your full weight it will be able to. Don’t gamble with your safety.

I agree and I state that in this video. Suction grab bars are okay for anyone who only needs a handle without putting any weight on it. Otherwise, you are absolutely correct. It's much more important to have the permanent grab bars installed properly and of course, to choose ones that can hold your weight. Thank you so much for your comment.
