The teaser trailer for this year’s Joaquin Phoenix led JOKER film was stunning. The obvious thing for me to do was to create a mash-up in its honour..! Diving back to one of the most stupendous years in history, 1989, I wanted to remind you all of Jack Nicholson’s dynamite performance, in what still remains one of my favourite movies of all time; Batman.

Jack Nicholson is the first Joker I ever saw growing up and he will always be special to me but I think Heath Ledger is the best live action version

@@Givemepeacealone Well, it's 1989 when Batman was an adult. Bruce is in his childhood/adolesence back in 1981. Joker is in his 30s in '81.

@Joe Chill Which is 1 of the reasons Jonah Hill was dropped. They didn't want another situation like they had with Nicholson being paid more. Nicholson was already a legend though. Hill really fucked himself out of a great opportunity

He gets Top Billing in the opening credits also lol I'm fine with that anytime I watch the movie though. '89 was Keaton's real break out as a more serious actor while Jack was already a legend

the only thing that could've made this better is if right after he says "And as you can see, I'm a lot happier" you threw in his laugh. right before the swell of music, just like the teaser.

Says he just acted how he thought he would if he ever got 'Joker-ized'. Also said he told Ledger that it really screwed with his head, and "warned him" when he got the role.

Personally, if this film came out in 2019 then this trailer would fit considering the 1980s fell. If this was the case then I’d wished the Joker trailer played Laughing by The Guess Who

Great ! But the joker cosmetic commercial in the 89' movie has some of the lines used in the new 19' movie. Nicholson says "Put on a happy Face! Haha!!"

Personally after the cut where it scrolled OCTOBER, I would have added a black screen as Joker said the line “Put on.. a happy face!” And right as he is about to laugh, cut to the scene where he is laughing at the newspaper.

Jack Nicholson's Joker is probably my favorite on screen Joker but after seeing "The Joker" Phoenix may be my new favorite. I'm not sure yet though. You can't say any of them are better than the other though, cause they all play different Jokers.

I love the Burton/Shumacher era. Sure, they're not as thematically complex or emotionally profound as The Dark Knight Trilogy, but their artistic direction, music and world are just as engrossing.
