This is definitely one of the darker parts of Arkham Knight even if it doesn't seem like it at first glance. Harley and Joker use something (hinted to be Titan, or an earlier version of it) to keep a girl with cancer going long enough for her father to build a park to Joker's liking. Once the park is done, they have no use for them anymore and stop the girl's treatments so she dies right away, and then convince the father to sign the park over to Joker and then commit suicide. That's actually darker than taking over a city with tanks and bombs.

Did anyone else think this was really dark even by Arkham standards? Definitely eerie which I love

The story behind this Seagate Park is a real tragedy. My heart broke when I listened to the last audio tape. It looks like that poor family haven’t suffered enough, for Joker. I like his character so much, but he’s a real bastard... he indirectly killed that little girl

In reality I'm sure some cop would "accidentally" empty his clip into Joker's face while he was in custody.

The Joker is one of the most sickest villains in comic book history

The truly sick part is that Joker and Harley did all that simply to kidnap Gordon to lure Batgirl and Robin to the park and kill them both because in Joker's mind Batman's sidekicks are getting in the way of his sick "game" with Batman. He tortured Jason in the asylum for the same reason too and also to turn Jason into a weapon against Bruce and use him against him later but he obviously never got the chance because of the Titan killing him in Arkham City.

So it has come full circle It turns out Joker under the alias Jack White has been borrowing money from Edward Burke to fund Dr Young's Titan research before the events of Arkham Asylum

I see this as a new take and back story to the guy who sold Joker the amusement park in the killing joke. If it is true then it makes sense why Batgirl of all people would be at that park.

Just when I think the Joker can't shock or disgust me anymore, crap like this happens. Shame on Harley, too. 😠

Just when it seemed that Joker was actually being a good person, he snatches the rug up from under us and reveals how psychopathic and depraved he has always been.

Rocksteady really wanted to write SS Harley like a modern counterpart where you are supposed to feel sorry for being a ''victim'' to the Joker. When this particular version of Harley stopped being a victim a long ago and committed horrible actions like these.

Hearing him mention Dr. Young just gave me all kinds of nostalgia tingles for Arkham Asylum. Even though I just played the Return to Arkham series lol

The joker, the most notorious famous CLOWN criminal and the park owner happen to meet him and doesn't suspect a thing just by looking at his face? I'm guessing joker did a Jack Nicholson and had some face paint on or something.

This is really Dark... This is why Joker is one of the worst villains, he is not about money, he is not about superiority or control, he is all about chaos , pain and cruelty, the level of story telling in these tapes is amazing , I feel more sorry for Edward listening his voice than I did for Jason even though I saw him getting tortured. The simplicity of a tape telling a Pretty twisted story that links it to Arkham Asylum is just brilliant.

One of the things I really like about the Arkham Knight game, is that it had so much nostalgia, and and secrets.

For those that don't know, the main part of the DLC is around 45 minutes, then finding these radios and the destructibles add another 20-30 minutes.

Joker and Harley Quinn may have tricked Edward Burke, but his ignominious death was his own fault in the end. A rich and influential man who was willing to do anything for his cancer-ridden baby daughter, Edward became a pawn in one of Joker's many plots. In the end, Joker gained a suitably-themed island hideout while Burke was killed with pills laced with Joker Venom once his usefulness ended. Most people see Joker only as a psychotic, homicidal madman and often overlook his ability to deceive and manipulate people, particularly by giving them what they want and then using that to destroy them. Harley Quinn is the most obvious example (deep down, she was a young woman who sought love), but other victims include Dr. Penelope Young (an ambitious career woman), Batman (through the seemingly-normal Henry Adams, Joker played on Batman's desire to save lives), various thugs (whose greed often overcome their common sense) and, of course, Edward Burke (a desperate man willing to do ANYTHING to save his daughter's life).

I know Edward was sad because his daughter died, but taking unlabeled medical pills from a guy you barely know? Come on, man.

And people ignore how complicit Harley was with this murder. Stuff like this is why I never liked the whole "Oh Harley is just a poor abused woman" angle they kept pushing, as if that somehow absolves her of the murders and atrocities she willingly commits.

The worst of all is that even after all that torment Joker inflicted on him, he couldn't even offer him a painless death, he infected him with the joker-toxin and gave him a horrible and most painful death.

Damn, I'm glad to see a lot of people enjoyed this side quest too.

(I’m only listening, not watching) Honestly, the environmental sound effects make this such an immersive experience and makes these tapes even more tense. I love this franchise

The 'laughing 'til he died' noises have fucking scared me for life.

Have you seen when you listen to the last tape of the Dad (talking about his daughter's death) and once you are out of that room and use detective mode! There is a man kneeling with his hands up I try to find him, but I have no luck every time I replay the dlc he is always there!

On The Table from where the Tape recorder is You can find the pills & a Newspaper about Edward Burkes daughter.. Apparently his daughter was fighting cancer for 3 years, Also because she was a baby means she was 3 before she sadly died... Also, Dead rat in fridge.

I can see the parallel between Edward Burke and Katie to Gordan and Barbra. Both father and daughter who's lives were fucked by The Joker.

This is a really nice prelude to Arkham Asylum. The mentions of Penelope Young and Joker's alias Jack White all suggest Katie was being fed an early version of the Titan formula. And then Joker took over the park to lure Barbara and Tim to break them. He already physically and emotionally broke Jason and he wanted to do the same with Barbara and Tim.

if you guys remember, edward was talking about jack in the last tape. That was Jack White, batman said in Arkham Asylum that was one of Joker's fake aliases. And how Edward died, the pills he ingested were poisoned with Joker venom. Like in the the first appearance of joker, his victims die with a smile on their faces.

Everyone is talking about Joker and Harley, but there is no one talking about Dr. Young. She may have been manipulated by Joker, but she was testing this dangerous formula on Bane and someone's nearly death ridden daughter. She is literally the reason the Arkham games happened. If Titan was never created, then nothing bad ever came of it.

The creepiest part about this is the achievement name, it's talking about Edward because in the bed in the office you can see his skeleton with a smile under a cover

I couldn't fucking believe it myself, just when I would feel sorry for Dr.Young from Arkham Asylum being killed by the joker. Here if any players have found an audio file in the DLC she used her experimental TITAN on the carnival owner's sick daughter. The child later died a horrific death, drove her father to suicide. It's unclear whether she thought it might actually cure the daughter or if she just immorally used her as a test subject. In Arkham Asylum. Sure even though the Joker is responsible, Dr.Young had a hands in the death of a little girl just as much as the joker has. I knew she was an egoistical bitch in the audio file in Arkham Asylum but I didn't expect her to cross that line. Either way she had it coming one way or the other.

Remarkably disturbing. Arkham Knight is just overall a much darker game than all the previous Arkham titles, but not in a "shove it in your face" type edginess, you often have to go out of your way in the game to find the really sick shit. This is one of them, taking such a sweet concept of a guy building an amusement park for his sick daughter and turning it into a deathly tragedy, ending with you listening to that guy taking a pill hoping to painlessly pass away and instead violently choking to death on his own involuntary laughter. With the only thing sicker than all of that being knowing what it was all for, making a playground on which Joker could torture the Bat-family.

I just found and listened to the final tape for the first time and......Jeez I got chills man 😨! I mean, I am used to messed up things that The Joker does but this......this is on the same level as Killing Joke messed up.....even higher I think. And that ending....when Burke laughs uncontrollably😨😰..........I mean, I guessed that Jack White (Joker) will use some version of his Joker Gas on Burke but.......I didn't exepct this suicidal background. I wonder what Batgirl felt when she heard that last recording 🤔. Anyway............this DLC is amazing, I want full Batgirl game, and Joker..........THANK GOD YOU'RE IN HELL RIGHT NOW😠!

I always wondered why this DLC was here and what tied it to the Arkham series, it seemed like another event in the life of Gotham. And then I find these hidden messages and it all made sense. I wonder if this is how Joker made Amusement Mile.
