It's so weird seeing Batman's head turn in this outfit, considering what Michael Keaton had to deal with.

I love how everyone nowadays says that Batman's first jump into mainstream popularity was with the Tim Burton movie, like the Adam West series had no impact or influence at all.

I think you missed the point of why Batman is paralyzed in the "Pen is Mightier than the Sword" scene in the Sam Hamm script. Bruce isn't afraid of guns. He's unsure of what to do when he comes across criminals when he's NOT in the Batman suit. It's to demonstrate how completely uncomfortable he is walking around as Bruce Wayne, as opposed to walking around as Batman. It's brilliant. And it could have been improved with another scene in which we see Bruce become more comfortable as Bruce Wayne and making sure he doesn't become a deer in the headlights again in a situation in which he feels defenseless.

Love the 1989 suit, it's my all time favorite. Plus the movie is my all time favorite batman movie, and a big part of that is the ride at Six Flags. Which has the Batmobile and the 1989 suit when you get to the karts.

Batman Returns was actually my introduction to Batman when I was like 5. Movie freaked me out and I loved it!

I remember in the comic adaption of the 89 Batman, the scene with the police finding Knox in the cape and cowl actually happens. Also, you should do a video covering Batman Returns!

I agree that none of the cut out stuff would've worked, at least at the time. The movie would've been too busy and disjointed. What made Keaton's Batman great is that you didn't know anything about his origin because you didn't need to. My favorite conversation about how Bruce became Batman within the movie is when he tells Vicki that "It's just something he needed to do." No further explanation was necessary. I wish more super hero movies followed this direction because how many times do people need to see Krypton explode or Uncle Ben get shot? At the same time, you know almost everything about the Joker. In most cases, that would be considered taboo in comics, but it works so well on the big screen because it's the villains that make Batman interesting. Their creation, motivations, thought process, it all works well in the movies because they're usually the main focus. Seeing Burton's version of Two-Face would've been amazing if he didn't get dumped for Schumacher. Also, I remember reading somewhere that back in the casting days, it was down to Jack Nicholson and Willem Dafoe to be cast as the joker. The only thing that sealed the deal with Nicholson was Dafoe didn't answer his phone and Nicholson pretty much nailed it at a screen test. This was before anyone was approached to pay Batman and Nicholson took a significant pay cut (in exchange for a larger portion of royalties) they could afford Keaton. This is why Nicholson could get away with anything on set.

Man, I first came here one year ago just to check the 1989 skin and Batmobile. But I keep coming back not only to check the amazing gameplay, but the interesting tidbits. I guess this is just a good format... Better than those guys who just play and go like, "Oh, now I'm gonna bring down this door", and whatever.

Batman was absolutely a household name before 1989. However, Batman was almost always immediately identified as Adam West's more campy version. Or the non-powered member of the Superfriends. But, c'mon now... Batman, Robin, Commissioner Gordon, the Batmobile, Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, etc? Even your typical "man on the street" knew this stuff. And EVERY comicbook fan was aware of Frank Miller's work and, more than likely, the Neal Adams stuff as well.
