I don't think you explained this correctly. I don't mean to offend anyone, but the "double tap the triangle or Y button" is rather vague. It's not exactly a double tap. You press that button once, and _hold_ it while holding the movement stick away to do the blade dodge as usual, then in between blade attack animations you quickly let it go and press and hold it again to do the takedown part. Just pointing out that you weren't 100% clear on that.

In Arkham City there is a trick: you do the normal dodge (pressing counter down) just before last attack tap it 2-3 times and press down, you will then make takedown. No need to press and hold for every strike. Havent try it on Arkham Knight thou. Apparently it only counts how many times you pressed it during the animation meaning you can press it 2 times when ever you are able.

im trying to learn how to just blade dodge in general? are you just supposed to hold y or triangle while pulling the joystick backwards, or time each press of the button with the blade because ive tries each and they dont work.

Something I noticed, that others might be stuck on, is you're doing it correctly but the counter won't occur and you just endlessly dodge but don't counter I realized I didn't have the blade dodge takedown perk. Make sure you have that unlocked under combat or you'll just endlessly dodge and not counter.

If you don’t know how to blade dodge, one of the simplest combat moves in these games, or haven’t at least successfully done it at least once, can you really call yourself a good Arkham player? Yes, I realize I’m gatekeeping but still.
