I love How Origins is getting the love it deserves, after being poorly received at launch. Makes me hope Roger Craig Smith can return as Batman one of these days.

I find it funny that now-in days it is hard to find a negative criticism of this game.

It's almost like people over-hated this game because it wasn't made by Rocksteady...

You know, another reason Kevin and Mark weren't in Origins is because they were WAY too busy with Knight, Mark having 200-300 Lines in the game, while Kevin had 37,000 recorded lines! And that's only as much as we know!

i feel like the release of SSKTJL has had a lot more people going back to the old arkham games and realizing how good they actually were (at least for me since i got back into them around the time ssktjl game out + many game reviewers)

You know I feel you about how underrated it was. I bought origins last week to revisit certain times, like the black mask detective section. While watching this video I realized how I love origins so much, especially with the villains made of helium. Great video!

Seeing Origins get a new look at nowadays brings me so much joy, I played this game to DEATH back then. I definitely agree with how you like your side quests, a lot of them branch off from the main story. I'd even argue that Anarky fits as much as say Black Mask, as he's literally spawned out of the corruption and greed from Gotham's police force and justice system.

37:42 They’ve been building up to this the entire game. Alfred, several times, tried to get Bruce out of harms way since the beginning of the game. His very first line in the game sets the tone for this. He clearly doesn’t want Bruce to leave. And once the assassins story line kicks off, he prompts Bruce again to stay home. This continues throughout the game until they have this breaking point here. It’s a damn good interaction that was set up well and is the proper breaking point of Bruce’s story arc in this game.

Arkham Origins is brilliant. I play through it every Christmas. The game's soundtrack and snowy look really gets me in the mood.

Loved origins when it came out and still do to this day. It may be the “weakest” of the Arkham series but that is not an insult. It’s still an amazing game, it’s just flawed

I play this game every Christmas. It’s my favourite Arkham game.

I've loved Origins since day one and seeing it given the love it deserves makes me happy. It's my favorite Arkham game and the absolute best one hands down. It's easily got the best story in the series and City's great gameplay with my favorite Gotham to fly around in.

I absolutely loved this game, both when it first came out but especially now when I replayed it recently. I loved the concept of the last battle against bane as the joker makes Batman question his no kill rule and it really set up the whole relationship between batman and the joker which we saw take place throughout the series

I absolutely love the moment where Batman has to defibrillate Alfred. Logically, you know he can't actually die because he's in City, but the dialogue and Batman's despair really sells the moment in spite of that. I also love how the subtitles refer to Batman instead as "Bruce Wayne" while you're shocking Al. Really goes to show just who he is in that moment, a young man afraid that he's just lost what's left of his family.

Jesus Christ,man! You beat down that ENTIRE room of cops! You're NOT supposed to fight them,and I wasn't sure it was even a fight that COULD be won. And with Arkam's Batman's "spider-sense" turned off,at that. Pretty impressive,bro.

one thing that turned me from hating the deadshot boss to loving it was waiting until later when you get equipment like the glue grenade and improved disruptor to take him on, and also the realization that you can throw batarangs at thugs strung on gargoyles to cut them down and reopen them for inverted takedowns as much as you like also makes it much more enjoyable and easy to take his men down. One last thing is that going up to him for a silent takedown but immediately doing that knockout smash thing does the same ammount of damage as a normal beatdown while also being way quicker. Hope this is like all tangible and im not speaking nonsense ekfdrnkg lol

This was the final Arkham game I played and I’m kinda glad it was the last one I played because it was my favorite in the series and I finished the game in one night like I was actually Batman or sum. I loved their portrayals of pretty much all the characters (Especially Joker and Bane) and the snow setting is great, overall a great game edit: that copperhead death screen had me down bad edit edit: merry christmas

Always loved origins. Its art direction, the story, and that Batsuit, aaaaaaah, i love it so much.

I was thankfully in the group of people who saw the game and was like "sick more batman!" Instead of "this game wasn't made by rocksteady! This game is trash!" I just thought the prospect of "more batman" was all i needed. Heck, for the longest time, i didn't even know it was made by a differant company.

Love this game imo it has the best story and its replay value is high because of the christmas theme and the idea that Batman is still a myth

It's really great to see games such as Arkham Origins, Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed Unity get the respect they never got at launch these days. Really underrated titles of their respective franchises.

I wish they would just Port or Remaster Origins to modern consoles. In fact the Arkham Games need the Resident Evil Treatment and Remake Arkham Asylum, City, and Origins since the Suicide Squad KTJL game has f'ed it all up.

Yet another example of a botched release where a game that was hilariously broken at launch turned out to be really good after all the bugs were finally patched out. Still a few bugs, found one place where you can reliably glitch straight through the ground by power bombing into it from a specific point and end up stuck under the map until you find a way to kill yourself, but I love finding bugs so I found that very entertaining.

sorry for my bad english it's not my main language... The Arkham Franchise it's my favorite video-games of all time... I just wanna thank you for this video, Arkham Origins for some reason is the only one (besides Origins Blackgate but we don't talk about it...) that the fans don't give a try or played for 30 minutes and gave up cause "it's not a true Arkham game". But this game it's one of the best Arkham games and it's my top 2 also! I dont understand why gamers prefer to ignore it, it's a exelent game! And the story is so good, the boss fights are one of the best in the franchise, I love the character development between Batman and Joker, it really works! I dare to say its the best interaction between those two in the franchise. This was the firts Arkham game that I played, so maybe it's cause of that I praise this game so much... Arkham Origins always gonna be in my hearth! I always loved the game, and wanted to him to have more reconigtion... and finally that is happening, people are realising why this game is a true Arkham game. Arkham Origins is probably the best game storywise but I really hate the fact that I had so many bugs through my first playthrough (I started playing the game month ago). Also I'm pissed that I couldn't complete all worst nightmare challenges outside of the main story and there weren't that many good side quests.

I enjoyed Origins. I enjoyed it then and still do now! Even the different voice actors didn’t bug me. The cut scenes though are top notch. Maybe the story could of went a different direction but overall still pleasing

As a long time comic book reader, these games honey have the best the best depiction of The Riddler outside the comics in my opinion the one from the Batman Arkham games. Wally Wingert who voiced the character in all 4 games always delivered such an incredible performance that always managed to perfectly capture Riddler's obsessive personality, massive ego and superiority complex and I love that he gets a significant amount of screen time in the games. I love the taunts and the boasts and the way he just completely melts down when he's beaten because he can't even begin to comprehend that he's not the smartest person in existence. It's honestly his voice I hear in my head when I read comics with Riddler. I really love that through each of his designs in every game you can see how his stability and mentality deteriorate. In Arkham Origins he doesn't entirely sound sure of himself. He looks quite fit and handsome like he actually takes care of himself but as the character progresses he becomes more and more unhinged. In Arkham Asylum he is more obsessed, in Arkham City he looks filled with dirt around his clothes, he has noticeable stubble, looks a lot skinnier and has gone to more extreme lengths to ensure Batman solves his riddles to the point where in Arkham Knight Batman is all he thinks about, so much so that he wasn't interested in relying on anyone else so he started building robots instead.

im right there with you with asylum. arkham city does everything that asylum does and does it better minus a few minor aspects. the gameplay in knight is objectively head and shoulders superior to the prior three games. but something about asylum… maybe its the nostalgia, maybe its the setting, maybe its the map, or scarecrows nightmares but its been my favorite game since i was a kid and probably still is.

Apparently Kevin Conroy spoiled Knight's existence to someone cause he didn't even know about Origins. So when someone asked him how he feels about "the new game" and if he's in it meaning Origins, he answered that he is in it thinking Knight probably was announced by that time even though it wasn't

i remember getting each arkham game after Asylum for christmas when they’d come out. i was maybe i was maybe 11 when origin came out and the amount of different interesting characters really made it stand out to me compared to city. before i could enjoy game quality like pop in, load times and story. all the assassins and how they would pop up really made the game one of my favourites in the series. of course its only became equal to the rest to me. i wish there would be a remaster that would solve the issues that plague it. i can barely find anhthjng to disagree with what you say in these vids. love it

I recently played this fully for the first time, because just like you I didn't like it back in the day (it also was insanely glitched on release, like, couldn't progress in the story kinda glitched, so that didn't help) I don't think of it as fondly as you do however I think it has some excellent stuff (the Deadstroke fight) but I personally hated the Copperhead fight. Felt too derivative of what had been before. The bridge fight was AWFUL, just do the same thing over and over again. The Bane fight was AWFUL. Do the same thing over and over again. It genuinely just felt jank through and through. I rate it lowest personally. Asylum first, then City, then Knight, then Origins. I put Asylum first as well because it just "got" the comic book aesthetic and atmosphere correctly. At launch I preferred City but over the years I kinda lost interest in it. Knight is awesome, I like it more than City but I HATE what they did to Scarecrow and a lot of the other designs (Ivy as well for instance... she's like... not even the same person)

I didn’t mind the Arkham origins. It was just OK. The voice of Batman just sounded very uncomfortably.. sure he sounded terrifying but it was okay in terms of gameplay. But it’s freeze every now and then

I’m fine with the grapnel boost, but for continuity I kinda wish the batsuit didn’t look like a direct upgrade to the one from Asylum/City….its too bad the “Armor” version from Asylum’s challenge mode wasn’t the default….then maybe Origins suit wouldn’t have looked so out of place….oh well, those are minor things lol

Arkham Origins is an interesting title because it's both nowhere as bad as some claim it is, but also not nearly as good as other claim either. I personally love the story, especially after replaying it. There were definitely missed opportunities and I also didn't like the way they handled Joker. I do like the work Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker did though, and I wouldn't mind them continuing Arkham in a retcon of Suicide Squad. However, there's something off about the combat. There's a slight timing issue between this and Arkham City which breaks the combat to me. Also, there are a ridiculous amount of different enemies and while that's challenging, once you get the electric gloves combat is broken. Either way, I do love this title and like the rest, I've 100% this game and got all the Steam Achievements.

This used to be my favourite arkham game in all honesty. Partially due to it being so hated on which made me love it more but also because of its story and how good the game is given the circumstances. I don’t think there is a definitive best arkham game since there’s just too much to take into account but origins remains my 2nd favourite after asylum. Rankings are tricky because people assume what’s at the bottom is the worst which is fair but really it’s just down to preference. Merry Christmas

The story annoyed me a little bit when it first came out but playing through it again recently, it was pretty good.

Merry Christmas, Batman Arkham origins when it first came out was super glitchy, lots of the bugs have never been fixed, but I had lots of fun with origins, the story might have been a bit predictable in some parts but overall I liked the story and gameplay, the acting was really good too. Side note worse game in the Batman Arkham games, is the sequel to Batman Arkham origins (even though they came out on the same day) , and that game is Batman Arkham origins blackgate, that game is honestly so annoying to play, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to play that game

I have a weird relationship with this game. First thing I want to say is this game was not hated because Rocksteady didn’t make it. The general audience does not care. This game was hated because of the broken release and then instead of fixing it they said they were focused on DLC. As for the game itself it was okay but I wish they did more. Some of it felt so lazy. It was a prequel and it had so much potential. I was hoping we got to see a Batman using more analog technology. The detective parts could have been more like LA Noire or even Spider-Man where you are looking for clues. Instead it was just point and click. This Batman was basically the same as the Asylum one. There is no progression in his technology or anything because they couldn’t be asked. The grapple boost is another one. They could have explained that Batman is manually launching himself off roofs but it having too much of a strain on his arm but again they couldn’t be asked. Rocksteady’s Batman was a combination of the Post Crisis Batman and the DCAU Batman. It was colourful and embraced its silly world while this one went more grounded with Batman wearing military armour and everything having a DC 52 vibe. Also the amount of content this game recycles is so distracting. Almost every boss fight in this game recycles something from the ras fight in Arkham City. This game would have benefited by being a more linear game like Arkham Asylum instead of an open world. The developers obviously cared a lot about the character but didn’t have the experience to make an open world like Arkham City. From stuff I have heard online over the years this was originally a Rocksteady golden age game but they initially dropped it because they couldn’t work on this and Knight at the same time. Wonder what that would have been like. I criticized it a lot but it is still a good game. I don’t think it was underrated or anything though. It got around 7/10 which is beyond fair considering how many bugs it had at launch and the amount of recycled content. It was basically a remixed Arkham City. Cool videos enjoying them.

Waylon was put under the guardianship of his incredibly abusive and alcoholic aunt after his mother died giving birth to him and his father had abandoned him. Waylon had no friends, and was the object of constant ridicule of those who knew him and as a result he grew to resent all of humanity. Arkham Origins has honestly the best design for the character as it's the one most faithful to Croc's original appearance in the comics.
