One of my favorite things about Batman, as written, is his ability to observe and stake everything on his instincts about a person. I absolutely hate the "oh, Batman would win against anyone" trope his fans have. He's smart enough to know when fighting isn't the answer. And he's had his ass handed to him plenty of times.

I love the fact that Spawn acknowledged Batman in Mortal Kombat.

Batman's plot armor, in this fight, kicks in when Spawn suddenly doesn't recognize that Batman is human and then momentarily stops his attack, giving Batman time to counterattack and eventually talking his way out (talk no jutsu)... Spawn should be able to immediately tell if you are human or a demon.

Spawn was about to end Batsy's whole career until he found out he was human, then he put on the kid gloves.

This fight is better then the last one. Here they actually acknowledge that Bruce would be the one on the ass beating end of the stick because spawn is built different.

It's remarkable how a mere human survives a hellish Superpowered being.

Surviving a Hell General that was chosen to lead hell’s armies who’s known to leave almost no survivors is a great feat for a human

Huh, this might be the creepiest a court of owls member has been portrayed rather than the talons themselves. Playing on one literally going in and out of sight and then watching along from the corners. Makes me wonder if one version could play it old gentleman ghost style, tormenting batman in particular with mind games on whether the court of owls are some mystical presence, a legit corrupt faction controlling gotham, or even just a delusion of batmans paranoid mind.

I remembered this crossover when I was kid back in 1994 and it was one of the coolest interactions I've seen comics. In Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn actually refers to Batman as a friend as they are both Dark Knights in their respective worlds.

I like Batman so much better when he’s in situations that are more true to who he is. Batman is truly at his best when he is in his element- the dark streets of Gotham. When he has a case that shows both the worlds greatest detective and a man driven by a sense of justice and the ghosts of his parents. Too many writers put him in situations where frankly he’s out of his league but he’s not written that way. Super powered beings are SUPER POWERED BEINGS. No matter how smart or well trained or how great a condition he’s in, despite his fighting skills and weapons Batman is still a man. Pitting him against super villains was always ridiculous, because if any of them really wanted to they could kill him easily. Spawn could and should be able to wipe the floor with Batman because he has super strength and endurance and one real punch from him could take Batman’s head off. Batman belongs in the shadowy confines of Gotham

There were two versions made. DC made one and image made one. Image was way better, and at the end Batman threw a batarang at spawn giving him a semi permanent shoelace sewn face scar for many issues. I was a teenager when these came out I got both to compare. There was no comparison. You should have ended this video with that full page drawing of the batarang imbedded in spawns face. It was the most epic image of the entire issue. The fact that Todd let that carry over into spawns actual style was legendary.

I've grown with batman comic, I've learned to love that character but since 10 years, I started to hate Batman. Guys from DC put Batman on a level that even em dont understand. He is over everything.They made him even more powerful than God, literary. I am shocked that batman didn't kill the Spawn. He anticipated light speed fighters, absord punch from monster of strength, he think faster than those who think faster than him naturally, he etc etc. Personally I think that modern Batman is written to portray the state of weakness of human being.

I'm convinced that even Superman would have problems dealing with Spawn. Spawn is a master at conserving his energy, only expending enough to handle whatever threat is in front of him. He didn't need draw on much to effectively fight Batman, but because Spawn's abilities are all Supernatural/Magical, Superman might also be caught off guard as soon as Spawn scales his overall power to match Clark's.

This should've been a one sided fight between the two characters considering how OP Spawn is but nonetheless it did bring a smile to my face when I see a few of my favorite characters actually duke it out in the comics.

i dont know spawn was doing pretty good when even his powers got turned off. first of all much like his attacks on bats he gets surprised on bats counterattacks after his power off. then even while gettin pummeled and with only his normal puny mortal strength hes still duking it out and getting his licks in...on top of that being heavily weighed down by chains, clumbersome now not animated cape and all that hugely dense necroflesh like armor that is no longer helping just weighing him down.

Batman: he is strong, I need my secret weapon. Also Batman: *incoming call* hey Clark, have you time for me?

Regardless if batman wins or not he's gone against some of the heaviest hitters ( superman, Darkside , incredible hulk, Dracula, captain america etc) and he's held his own against them and most of them have showen their respect to him as a human with no superpowers in one way or another

Seriously If SPAWN wanted to Kill Batman he could had with no Problem. SPAWN is so Over Powered it's INSANE. He is very lucky SPAWN wasn't aiming to Kill him. Even Batman knows when he's outclassed. It is better to talk instead of trying to go toe to toe with someone like SPAWN. Always loved SPAWN, one of my favorite characters from IMAGE comics. Have just about every comic of SPAWN. He is way to much in comics If you follow his Comics you will see how powerful he is. He is Broken AF. Highly OP.

If Spawn wanted him dead, he'd be dead. Since he wanted something from him, he was beating it out of him. Batman's intelligence and strategic ability are his best weapons.

Thing is, Spawn was holding back because all he wanted was Wanda's soul. At any point, he could have killed Batman.

Pretty good example of how fucked up batman can get when he’s caught off guard by an opponent he doesn’t know. Prep time and research is a big part of his arsenal in many fights. Not that it’s always the case but getting ambushed by Spawn having never fought him before is practically a death sentence.

Of course he survived. He always must for money from trademark.

With powers, Batman stands no chance. Without powers, Batman sends Spawn flying. Pretty accurate on both ends, can’t wait to see the sequel.

First encounters are rough for Batman for most of the time. But given time, planning and of course some maybe connections tot he magical world. He would most definitely find a way he can combat Spawn directly or indirectly. But I like that Batman doesn't have an immediate way to battle Spawn here

At least spawn was in a place that nerfs his powers if memory serves me right. If he was going all out Batman would be dead near instantly.
