The craziest thing about Bale in "Batman Begins" is the weight gain he had to accomplish to make this film. "The Machinist" was the film Bale stared in previous to Batman Begins and in that film he weighed 120 pounds. Dude looked like a skeleton in that film. In about six months he put on 100 pounds for this role.

Cillian Murphy original tried out for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. There are clips of his screen test on here. Also, you're right about him not being able to turn his head in that costume (just like with Michael Keaton's costume). That point gets addressed in the next movie.

If you haven't seen The Prestige I highly recommend it. I think it's Nolan's best as he has the budget to do ambitious stuff but was more fun and less of a pure downer as he seems to have become.

I'd also forgotten how much less growly Batman's voice is in this one, but maybe we can chalk that up to him just getting started. I remember reading somewhere that those little triangles that anchor his cape were supposed to be speakers that distorted Batman's voice; maybe they needed their batteries changed.

This is my first Batman movie I saw in the theaters almost 20 years ago.

This film was my first Bluray disc with the Sony player, so I was able to hear the difference between Dolby Digital and Dolby True at home for the first time than I usually do in the cinema. The scene where Freeman screams in the tumbler is the difference to compressed sound like a window that has been opened.

Lol, that Detroit basement is actually lower Wacker drive in Chicago I believe. I was in Chicago on a date and we were walking on one of the bridges over lower Wacker and I saw that tumbler come roaring out. I thought they were filming a new mad max movie. Found out later it was batman begins.

It's an opera not a play because they sing the lines. The difference between an opera and a musical is operas focus is the music and a musicals focus is the acting.

It's still my favorite out of the 3. Yes the second one Heath Ledger he does a spectacular job BUT found it wayyyy to long. Also I would have preferred the story of 2 face to be in the 3rd film instead of what I felt was a rush insertion. If 2 face was the antagonist in the 3rd we would have had time to develop more his character. Instead we got a midget to play Bane.
