Batman: Revenge of the Joker was going to be released by Sunsoft in 1992. The company that developed it was Icom Simulations. It was commercially released on the NES (as Return of the Joker) and Genesis, but not the SNES, even though appears to be finished. Batman: Revenge of the Joker is one of those completed games that have been floating around since the dawn of the Internet, with little or no information on its origin or why it never came to be released.

it's incredible how the NES version, in an older generation console, is very much superior to the Genesis and SNES versions in every aspect: graphics, sound, music, gameplay.. everything!

Is that game where you mashing simple human punks mugs until your finger come off, and then play that annoying "escape the truck" mini game/level, where it all based on the precise memorization? Nooo, screw that crap. Those are maybe two different types of tortures, but torture non the less.

Yeah, but would you love it for $40 or whatever a SNES game would sell for then? As a free ROM yes, but there was definitely a reason it was not released.

How was possible that neither the Genesis or the SNES could even match the quality of the NES version? They had worse graphics, music, sfx and gameplay.

I always liked the game music 🎵 Sunsoft could've made this game a beat'em up! I always found it odd that they made this Batman game a shooter, The NES is the best version!

Had the nes version which is one of those games that push the graphics and sound to the max on the console, never knew the snes version existed, bummer it was unreleased.

One possible reason why the Sega Genesis and the unreleased SNES versions were known as "Revenge of the Joker" is to avoid confusion with the games based on the "Batman Returns" film.

Am I the only one here who feels that in part 2 of AVGN’s Batman episode, the Joker (played by Mike Matei) shouldn’t have made the Bat Nerd play Sega Revenge of The Joker, but instead Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker on the Nintendo 64? Imagine how much better the episode would’ve been!

Took like 10 mins to beat that first boss, no wonder the game was unreleased, lol Soundtrack is pretty decent though, I didn't know this was also on NES as well til I read other comments

Pisspoor version. It's not like it would be any better if it was completed. It just looks bad. The NES Version FTW. Positives: The stage completion pictures, and The controls are mostly responsive, that's all I can Say... Negatives: Let's cut to the chase: The Presentation: The Graphics in this version are very ugly, they suffer severe lack of detail, barely taking advantage of the system's superior graphical hardware. It looks more like a SMS Game if anything. Many of the sprites have been redrawn, but they look bad and/or look nothing like their NES counterparts. I suppose they tried to make it look good, but they didn't do good enough. It honestly makes the Genesis Version look beautiful by comparison. The Audio is also pretty bad, the sound effects are very loud and grating, and sound more like The White Noise sound effects You could've find on the NES, except here, it's awful. The music, while not as bad as the Genesis Version, is still quite poorly arranged, inappropriately chosen samples with weak instrumentation. Way to butcher the Legendary Kodaka's artistry, ICOM! Now that that's out of the way, let's get on to the gameplay. It's a very poor recreation of how the original game plays. Their are too many enemies than their should be, and their are even some hazards that were not even in the NES original, like the barrels. All in all, Batman: Revenge of The Joker on the SNES is a complete tragedy and does an abysmal job to recreate a classic game. And instead of taking care and responsibility, they just ruined it, which is ironic considering it was on a WAY superior console! No wonder SunSoft never released it, they knew it was so bad, they didn't want to be embarrassed of a worse reputation with the other bad version, which was the Genesis version. You're just better off playing the NES original over this poorly made and HORRIBLE port.

It's just like playing the comic book I love it. But gosh the bosses are overpowered. Especially the joker's killer Robot. Sorta ends like Sonic 2.

Someone should redo/hack the nes original and just add more gadgets/ abilities and vehicle stages and new enemy types bosses and levels to the original Sunsoft nes Batman that would be awesome

While it looks weaker comparing to the other SNES Batman games (except the atrocious Batman Forever of course) and it doesnt takes advance of the console's hardware (unlike NES version), it still looks nice.

Namoral nunca vi esse game, é uma mistura de Megaman, shotgun, jogo de navinha... Kkkkkk muito loco véi Esse Batman tá no lugar errado do game kkkkkkkk tá usando arma até que demais kkkkk.
