Well, apart from Clayface and croc i think, everyone else was really honest and sympaethic with Bruce, especially Scarecrow, Deathstroke and Mr freeze.

Because the biggest fear of Batman is not death, but leaving Gotham unprotected. Technically, if Scarecrow wins the Gotham would be eternally driven to fear, leading to practically no crime

And to make it worse it was this was Kevin Conroys send off before he died himself. Such a terrible ending to a great character.

After all his only real motivation is to cure his wife, and everything bad that he does is just in an effort to bring her back. In fact, I’d argue that Mr. Freeze is barely even a villain. He does bad things, yes, but at his core his motivations aren’t evil.

Then Joker (if we're talking about the Joker iteration) where he had a disease/mental illness or something where he couldn't stop laughing, which often got him into trouble, and all the shit he took, he walked down the path we know as a laughing maniac. Deathstroke was from the military and underwent a superhuman experiment that I think went awry or something and now he is what we know.

Because a lot of Batman’s rogues gallery are well written, especially in these games. They’re not just boring “i will do whatever crazy villainous shit i can think of and mess with anyone who tries to stop me” (this is why i don’t really like the joker as a villain), they have a history and reasoning to be the way they are. They have goals and ambitions, and Batman is stopping them from meeting their goals. That’s why they need to defeat him.

On behalf of Two-Face, given how he was buddy-buddy with Bruce in a few continuities, seeing this end is something alright.
