Even if you had a weak punch brass knuckles will leave a mark, they are used mainly in street fights and it is illegal to use in competitive fights like boxing or mixed martial arts. Also Batman immediately recognized it as synthetic so it is possible that he used that as well like in the brass knuckles. And there's also the "Death of Superman" plot in Justice League where Superman is seemingly killed by Toyman, and Bruce is the only one who refuses to believe that Clark is actually dead (and Bruce is *right* to boot).
