doing a Bat playthrough right now. Thanks for this it explains a lot. My vet falxman always die so fast and now I know why. I absolutely love the fian champions though, I just put em on a hill and they devastate every time. Even when the ammos gone unless it's a bunch of imperial legionaries or something the do work in melee.

I'm a new player of this game and I haven't played the predecessor of this game. So much appreciate to your insightful analysis. I'm now having a clearer idea about how to choose the troops in my army. Sorry I used Google translate to help me to write this comment cuz English is not my first language. Vet Falxman are awesome clearing hideouts, not really used them in battle much though as don't really get a lot of them

Fians are the best archers and shock troops combined, also, their 2h sword is short so they always hit true unlike others 130+ reach weapons

Do Fians benefit from any of the Two Handed captain perks? I think most of them apply to melee infantry?

i think the infantry perks work for both infantry and archers. while cavalry perks work for both cavalry and horse archers. As long as the perk buffs the unit type and the weapon type they should get the bonus. I can't confirm if infantry perks matter when cavalry is dismounted but if i have to guess i'd say they don't But TW can be quite interesting when it comes to hidden codes so there might be some surprises there

I agree except the 4 tier falxmen since they are so vulnerable to missiles

True, but at least they are cheaper and easier to get. Kind of helps make up for their low survival. As what they lack in armor you can theoretically make up in numbers.
