In today's tutorial we'll learn, how to make an Automatic Battery Charge Controller Circuit with Auto Cut OFF or Over Charge Protection and Battery Charge / Capacity Level Indicator system. The controller is based on the two different circuits, the one is responsible for over charge protection to maintain battery health and the other is for battery level indication, I combined both of these useful circuits and made a schematic and then I ordered the PCBs online from PCBWAY to make this project more professional!

Im looking to buy this Brand CPTDCL charger cut off board. Can you help me out. I have a portable solar set up and direct from alternator charging my secondary battery. Can I reverse the wires to the CPTDCL charger that go from the charger input, to the charging output to battery wires so instead of charging the battery, I want to rig it to operate a 12v motor and be able to start n shut it off.?

Just checked, gerber file is ok. For ordering, you can upload the gerber file on any PCB fabrication service provider website which you like, and order your PCBs.

How many amps are used for the transformer. CT transformer or 0?

no more than 30% of the battery nominal AMP-H. In this example an 2.1 Amp PS will be OK for a 7 amp-h lead acid battery. This circuit is not so good precisely because it is not handling max charging current and its not good relying in the power supply max current because it overheats it. A big power supply will kill most batteries in the short run, and a small one will take ages to charge the battery. There is an easy LM317 based current regulated charger that you can search for in the IC datasheet. Also it is good idea implementing a charge maintaining circuit, that pusts some load and recharges every now and then.. Will require or at least be easier with any microcontroller.
