@@rubi2464 my guess would be a very large very inefficient sound system with most power going to the subwoofers, combined with mood lighting and spectrum bar graphs. The main battery is only intended to start the main battery of the EV, and hold the battery contactors closed. So i suspect its power input is low, thus requiring the use of additional batteries with separater charge port to run the sound system. You cant add another alternator to the serpentine belt in order to get more power for such things. Basically a EV trying to do gasoline things, and failing.

Oh, I see what happened on the crane. When you boom out (telescope the boom longer), you also need to let out the cable. If you don't, the sheave(pulley block that attaches the hook to the cable) will bind on the boom roller pulley when there's no slack left. Since you never lift anything with the boom completely vertical because of the base of the crane being in the way, all the tension kept pulling on the boom lift cylinder until it pulled the piston out. Normally there is a safety limiter so if the sheave block gets too close to the end of the boom it will lock out the controls which only let you winch out/boom in until the safety stop is released. This crane either didn't have it or it was bypassed.

It could have possibly been a faulty retainer nut as well that failed, allowing the hydraulic pressure to push the piston out. I have seen that happen with the hydraulic ram on a huge injection moulding machine.

I would not be anywhere close to that thing till it's secure from what I can tell the only thing holding it up is the cable tension on the crane. After looking at it again the headache ball is dangling near cab at beginning of video so nothing is holding it now but dumb luck. one good gust of wind will knock of just enough to have it come crashing down.

@@catey62 That’s what I was thinking too but if it was cross threaded that badly you have to notice. Also there would be hydraulic oil all over the boom if that where the case

@@catey62 Partial to this explanation though I know excavators, not cranes. Hydraulic pressure is a hell of a thing, especially if it was at full extension and operator kept the raise lever pulled. If it had a faulty overpressure relief valve, and a fault with the retainer... Pop goes the weasel. I don't know what the 'plug' at the end of the piston is called in English, but I have seen it's retainer fail on a excavator boom cylinder and the boom did a fair jump before coming back down. Full force of a hydraulic system does not take prisoners.

6:40 This brings back some memories, in my case it was just the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and it's wiring. But the problem is that it was failing occasionally and the diagnostic tool was not detecting as a fault. So it took a while to find the problem because the wiring was broken and as the car moved it would stop or start working again. So it wasn't just a sensor failure.

1:35 That looks like it was way too much work to have done it poorly like that, should have taken the extra steps to have done it properly. Possibly could have been easier if it was done properly too. Although I have doubts that there is a "proper" way to do it with that much. 8:05 How does starting the engine when the battery is reconnected if the correct key is nearby work as an anti-theft?

I'm wondering the same thing about that "anti-theft" feature. The only way it makes sense to me is if it was a screwup of a feature meant to _not_ let the engine start if the key wasn't nearby. Anything like that feature will be (at least in part) code on a computer. Doesn't take much to screw that up one way or another (improper code, faulty storage).

My guess is that it prevents the motor to be started by whatever signal comes from the actual lock (preventing someone to hotwire it), but in order for the actual owner to still be able to drive, it starts the car with the key nearby automatically, as a backup

@@drsnova7313 I did wonder if it could be an anti-stranded feature that is probably part of the anti-theft system, but I certainly wouldn't label that feature anti-theft.
