Sorry for the abrupt ending. The main takeaways are: the tool to measure the Specific Gravity is on the left of the screen. It's about $8. The Stick Welder was about $300. After putting the battery back in my truck, I turned everything on for a couple of minutes (like headlights etc) and it was still 12.73V. Excellent results so far.

Lower the power after bubbling the salvation and make sure you keep edible to electrolyte in your plates when doing that, but don't do it.While you do that take it off the power source before you do that

I've seen a couple videos on this, but they were with a DC welder - is that what you have?

Yes, it's a welder/inverter. Here's a link to a better video I made kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9ujqpSf1tHJfn0.htmlsi=SpSSvIQGZ3jqzfat

I was taught to push 200amp into it 15 mins on rest for an hour a few times or more if needed I’ve done it a few times with good results

I tried that but I think I did it too long. This way seems pretty safe to prevent overcooking.

does this work? what does it really do to the battery? I have a battery here from my truck that's in poor condition. my old battery charger doesn't work great any more, it tends to cook batteries if left on too long. that's what happened to my truck battery, forgot to turn it off over night, oops. what can I do to recover the battery? it's already shot, so no loss if it makes it worse.

I'm using a welder/inverter. The liquid acid crystalizes and sticks to the lead plates, this returns the crystals to liquid form. Some guys claim to have recovered batteries that are completely dead, 0 volts. Here's a link to a better video I made kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p9ujqpSf1tHJfn0.htmlsi=SpSSvIQGZ3jqzfat

would battery charger work? one with wheels on.

The old analog style might, but most these days have a timer that shuts them off after a couple of minutes and you're limited on what amperage setting you use. I tried my battery charger once and overcooked it. I like being able to adjust the amperage to get as close to 16.5 volts to slowly cook it. 200 amps seems way too hot. If you're gonna try the battery charger, maybe just run the 200 amp booster for two minutes and let it cool for eight, like a 20% duty cycle. Just be careful, and if the battery is bad it's bad, doesn't hurt to experiment.
