In this video I take an overall look at what a Battle Belt is, considerations for when building it out, and take a look at two examples on what a Battle Belt can look like.
This video is a Primer, just enough to really get you started if you want to build a belt out, or are struggling with what to do with your belt.
A few pouches/pieces shown are not stocked by Venture Surplus. They were used as example pieces of gear that are commonly available or are in common use for example purposes, and to display a variety of gear that is commonly seen out and about.

For Minutemen, I see the battle belt as the EDC for working around the house after SHTF. If I KNEW a fight was coming, I would have the entire LBE and assault pack. If looters attack while I am hoeing the garden/splitting wood, the battle belt gets me back to my LBE so I can REALLY fight. I would not see any chow being on a battle belt, but sure in the LBE. Do what works for you though.

Funny thing actually that I found out with my battle belt. I own both the padded belt and the condor belt shown in this video. You can actually remove the buckles off of the padded belt, tuck in the excess belt that the default buckle attaches to, and run the condor belt through the padded belt with the anti friction velcro stuff removed. I found that it gives you the best of both worlds, comfort from the padded belt and rigidity from the condor belt. Ive ran it a couple times so far and it is extremely comfortable and I've had no problems with shifting with a decent amount of weight on it. Also combining the two belts doesn't require any cutting at all, so you don't damage anything, you just need to remember where you put the belt buckle from your padded belt in case you don't want to run your condor inner belt.

Great insight and info, Lucas. My belts are set up, but I never get tired of seeing how others set things up. Sometimes, we don't know, what we don't know and different approaches/perspectives, can help us realize a deficiency in our kit. Thanks Venture Surplus. Keep the videos coming.

Back in the early 1980’s we used a GI pistol belt, holster, ammo pouches for a 1911 (mostly a triple twenty’s or thirty’s) sometime a canteen but that was sometimes hide in a GI butt pack. Along with this a GI butt pack for copious amounts of ammo. Suspenders were not allowed. Often a light was worn to carry the big stuff. Like liter bottles of water… this was all part of the early Practical rifle shooting program at a prominent rifle range in California matches were practical rifle and pistol but if a match was going to be heaves on pistol they may tell you to bring extra ( more the 50 rds of pistol ammo. ) night shooting was as regular event remember this was pre pistol mounted lights and red dots. The first illuminated red dot sight was built with a single point scope and deployed effectively during a night match. It was mounted on a AR180. And light with a single LED it put everyone else dead last. Practical gear and training will breed practical innovation .

An other comment my current EDC is ether a Fanny pack, as this seems to distribute the weight and supports the weight above my hips, or simple inside the pants kydex holster with my pistol. I’m not carrying for work, practical Match’s , or on duty. Every one needs to be carrying EDC and the states need to get their head out of their rectums.

Great to see a belt different than what I called the reddit belt or instagram belt (1+2 rifle/pistol esstac kywi, mesh dump, micro IFAK, safariland holster) and something actually geared a bit towards infantry tasks. Plus its great to see another FO out there killing it!

Regarding holster/belt compatibility, I keep a specific holster that is 'universal', because it fits with MOLLE onto almost any belt I use. It will also handily fit most compact to large size semiauto handguns. It's not pretty, but it fulfills a need.

@@TUKByV I don't know it was an Amazon cheapie from years ago. It had cordage you used to adjust it to fit different sizes and shapes of handgun plus some webbing and a single mag pouch. Think it cost $20-30.

Looking at the new Agelite belt at the moment. Setup is so personalized and subjective based on scenario plus what other gear you’re running. Can’t wear running shoes and rucking boots at the same time. That said, many folks I see base a lot of stuff on “how it’s typically done”, or “statistics show”. The way I see it, what is potentially coming is atypical and not in-line with normal statistical data. YMMV.

Every Belt Kit / Battle Belt should always have is at least a water bottle and a basic water purification kit. Also we in Oz always carry emergency rations in our battle belts / webbing. You can never be guaranteed that you can in battle be separated from your squad and need to survive.

I think I'll stick with my SSO Smersh hearness . Putting any kind of weight on your hips , without suspenders of some kind is a mistake . I'm telling you now , your gunna hate it ! Anybody who has worked in the trades , or even gone hiking for long periods of time , figure out , real fast , that it sucks bad without support , and hook it up with suspenders in some way . Even the old school , Vietnam Y straps would help . . You see a lot of hunchback old iron workers , and carpenters , out there , that didnt wise up .Just sayin

In a pinch, cheap airsoft absolutely will work. Most of the time, airsoft brands pulled through where everyone else's weren't available or too expensive.

A couple of the brands have become quite good. More gear from them, than anyone would readily expect, is being used in the field.

Look how the British do their Battle Belt. Should end up with a rear "shelf" for the short Bergen or Rucksack to sit on top. Look up Jay Jays Gen 4 Webbing set as an example. Doesn't work when vehicles are so relied upon. Should give 24hrs self reliance at a push. Best bit they get the bulk kit off the chest rig, so when hitting the dirt you can get flat and low. Weight on the hips is far more effective/efficient too. Test kit by going for a run with it; it shouldn't jiggle all about. That will send you nuts.
@VentureSurplus
@VentureSurplus 6 ай бұрын
Testing is the biggest, thing. It can look great, but be total crap once you put it on. The Brits do belt kits very well.

Remember this…..if you are wearing “ kit”….you ma be “ sticking out”. If everyone is wearing kit…and l mean pretty much of the general population…then…ok. But if there is some kind of social upheaval….and you’re one of the folks wearing one….you gain unwanted attention. And unless you’re operating with some kind of team…you won’t really be able to watch your back. So…someone else sees you with your gear…and wants it…when you turn our head..maybe…just maybe …that someone produces a weapon and engages you…and now…they have your kit. I’m an older …58 ear old…former Army Infantryman. I think ld try to be out of the attention of others. Maybe a nondescript shoulder bag…gear inside…and a weapon under cover. That AR platform is hard to simply cache. So…discrete may beat…overt. Not saying the battle belt is bad….just making a point….if you garner attention…it may not be positive.
