Flower was mean 10 years ago, but that doesn't mean she's mean now. She's learning to be nice, according to the BFDI WikiBook. Apparently the book is sold out, so I guess you missed out on that.

The reason why the quality of the animations looked much worse was because Cary said that they wanted this season to have lower quality so that they can make more episodes more quickly Oh also, don't mind me, I'm just revisiting older reactions since there are comments now!

In the actual episode golf balls plan was to get one person up the tree and the other on the ground so the person on the ground can toss the 2 heaviest contestants up to the person on the tree, so the person on the tree can toss the heaviest contestants to the basket.
