Loved Andy but Slaters surfing was more critical in that heat. Andy's first wave was way overscored IMO....Kelly should have only needed a high 7/low 8

Mushy slopes not vertical faces unfortunately. Love to see super tubes when it's really hollow and at it's best, but that's contest surfing! Both AI and Kelly surf so well, it's great to see them in a match up final!! Kelly's wave he surfed well, but not that great, but falling off during the ride, weather it's mid way through or at the end like Kelly did, no way is worth a 9.5 or whatever they gave him, and definitely AI should have won, and the comments reflect this!!!! Miss Andy Irons so very much!!! I'm older than him, and born and raised in Hawaii on the N. Shore of Oahu and have been surfing my whole life, and where the Irons bros grew up, I spent most of my time living there and surfing. It was great to watch them as kids progress into some of the best surfers in Hawaii and the world!!! Also watching Kelly from his first time he came to surf country on Oahu when he was a kid and the waves were far too powerful and big for him the n, but over the years he got really good in surfing Hawaii and Pipeline in particular!!! Now, the level of surfing especially in Hawaii on the N. Shore of Oahu, by the next generation of surfers, combined with the progression of surfboard shaping and design is just continuing to get better than the last!!! It's amazing!!! I was surfing so well in my 40's into my 50's, and Kelly is doing it also!!! I'm sure AI would be blowing minds today!! His brother Bruce certainly does!!! Miss him... AI forever!!! No ka oi!

If WSL cared about their fans and growing the sport, wouldn’t they have already made the sickest documentary about the 2003 World Title race that everyone still says 20yrs later was the best world title race ever and only one to this day that came down to the final heat of the season that featured the two greatest surfers of all time, AI and Kelly Slater in a year where not a single competitor besides AI/Kelly even came close to winning a single event that entire season leading up to Pipeline #AIForever

the surf world would have benefited from a split result here Andy gets probably another 1 or 2 with a solid 4 or 5 he is a certified legend, Kelly earned it though, just something about hanging in there. Andy was a rockstar and we miss him, but he needed to understand politics. a lot of life is waiting your turn

that may not have been a 9.5. but i don't understand how people think Andy won this. Kelly's surfing was FAR more critical and on edge, not only the entire event but also this heat.

No doubt Andy Irons won this heat you can't give a 9.5 falling at your last maneuver!!! It's been a shame from the judges!!! For sure Andy Irons would have won his 4th world title if it wasn't for this silly way of judging! It would be good if Kelly could admit it sincerely. So i give 4th world titles to Andy Irons and 10 for Kelly but who knows how Kelly's and Andy's future would have gone if they had rightly given the victory to Andy Irons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes Mr.Iron's was a great surfer. I knew Slick on Maui. Great Surfer also he devoted his life to shaping some nice boards. I am not a doctor, possibly they had the same demons in their lives. Many great musicians never made it pass their 30's To many Drugs, Alcohol? They sure screwed up my life, Loss my son .He wont ever forgive me, 💔 It's been 45 years Nathan.I had you in the water before you could walk (Mala Wharf) . Judging always can be weird but not as consistently as now. But main problem is this ridiculous format. Who says we want to see a top 5 ?? What if your favorite surfer is in 7th place ? It’s just beat.

Loved Andy, but that was a bit of an amateur mistake to leave the water early with Mr. Slater having the line up all to himself.

Kelly's wave was incomplete. If you cant kick off or jump off at the end of the wave should be a2 point deduction no matter how good you surfed it..That wave was a 7.5 or 8 at best!
